    Fred Thompson Doesn't Pander

Thompson Refuse to pander to the subsidy-hungry ag industry

You gotta love a guy who will stand in the middle of Iowa farmland and refuse to pander to the subsidy-hungry ag industry:

AKD: What will you do for the farmers of Bremer County?

    FT: (laughs)

AKD: You knew this was coming, right?

FT: I would continue to enjoy the fruits of their labor. I've been looking all over Iowa for a bad steak and I can't find it. Been trying my best. It's not a matter of what I would do for the farmers. Farmers are not looking for a president to hand them something. Farmers want fair treatment and a chance to prosper in a free economy and that's what I would help ensure. There's a lot of programs we've got out there, some of which are good programs, some of which are not. And I think that we need to work our way through that and make sure we're doing what's good for the country, not just the farmers, not just the people of Iowa, not just the people of Tennessee. But good for the country. A sound policy that makes sense. I think there's a lot more that we could do for the working farmer in terms of ecological programs and environmental programs - land conservation, soil conservation - that would be fair and it would be beneficial to the nation and to Iowa and to our country. We're going to have to phase out the corporate welfare system we've got, however. There are extremely rich people living in skyscrapers in Manhattan that are receiving subsidy payments. I think that's wrong. I'd put a stop to that if it was within my power. That still continues in this latest Farm Bill and it's not right. There ought to be a cutoff at some level and it's not right ot have millionaires receiving farm subsidies.

    Quite right.

I think Thompson’s absolute refusal to pander - whether it be to special interest groups, political “kingmakersâ€

He is telling it like it is and I would assume the farmers, as in family farms, are tired of the farm bills being welfare for big agribusiness as well as the rest of us.

It might have been more of his actually saying what they want to hear.

From the beginning, I have always felt that Thompson had the best platform of all the frontrunners (even though he is not a frontrunner anymore). He just sounds like an honest, no nonsense, uncomplicated guy. And he has what seems to be lacking in the others...common sense.

It's too bad that politicians are judged by their media popularity...as in American Idol ...rather than their ability to steer this country in the right direction. Maybe we should go back to the days of radio...when most of the public did not even know that FDR was in a wheelchair with a crippling disease called polio. They should be heard and not seen! They are spending 500B, collectively, and this is a sham and a scam. Just tell us what you will do for our country...and do it!

Fred might Just be the best, but it depends on what issue we want to critic him on around here to occupy a chance of being heard about him.
He has a long pony tail that some alipac member has decided was the end of the world as they knew it. Which simply isn’t true, but don’t try and tell any one else that? They have FT-CFR phobia of which there is no vaccination because it comes from the strand of a long line of conspicuous conspiracy theoritis which main symptoms among others is a huge swelling between the eyes and ears. This disease causes clogging of the ears and closing of the eyes to any other opinions other then the carriers.

Actually Freds CFR connection doesn't bother me half
as much as him hiring Spencer Abrahams , a raving open borders
wacko to work on his campaign

Even given that he might be ok but his campaign right now
is going nowhere and after watching him in the debates
he seems half asleep most of the time

I think he fired Spencer Abrahams, didn't he? I'm not sure. He is rather somnabulistic, however, and we do want a President who won't fall asleep on the job. I'm just saying I like his "common sense" approach. He seems sincere to me.

If immigration is your #1 issue, you have to go with Hunter or Thompson.

    http://www.alipac.us/ftopict-95435.html

Since Hunter doesn't stand a chance (when was the last time a Representative was elected President?) that leaves Thompson.
