NEW YORK — Univision says it is dropping the Miss USA pageant and says it will cut all business ties with Donald Trump over comments he made about Mexican immigrants.

The network said Thursday it will not air the July pageant and has ended its business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, which produces the Miss USA pageant, due to what it called “insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants” by Trump, a part owner of Miss Universe.

During his presidential campaign kickoff speech last week, Trump accused Latino immigrants of bringing drugs, crime and rapists to the U.S. He called for building a wall along the southern border of the U.S.

Trump says he was only criticizing U.S. policies concerning Mexico, not its people. He says Univision is in default of a five-year contract.

Oh, okay. Like who cares?! Trump doesn't care. But this article that calls illegal aliens that Trump was talking about, "Mexican immigrants" should be insulting enough to Mexican Americans to boycott Univision and the National Post and any other outfit that refers to illegal aliens as "Mexican immigrants".

Literally, it nearly has been so long since I had Univision on I do not remember it. I do not watch it.

We need to either start getting Univision dropped from our local cable networks or insist that Univision be broadcast with english subtitles so Americans can see the hostile ant-American reports on those Spanish language media outlets.

Miss USA host quits, calls Trump a 'clown'

The Chilean actor scheduled to host this year’s Miss USA pageant is quitting over GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s remarks on Hispanic immigrants.

Cristian de la Fuente, who performs on the television series “Devious Maids,” said on Thursday he is abandoning his role in the annual beauty competition.

“Mr. Trump, as a Latino, I cannot work in an event associated with your name,” Fuente said in a video posted by TMZ. “The statements you made against Mexicans and immigrants show that you are an ignorant.“It is unacceptable to launch your presidential candidacy creating a rhetoric of hatred and discrimination in calling Mexicans drug dealers and rapists,” Fuente added.

“It is a shame that such an important institution as Miss USA is in the hands of a clown."

Trump countered on Thursday that Fuente was not the host of next month’s Miss USA event.

“We never even signed the guy,” he said of the Chilean actor, according to TMZ.

“After the Miss USA people saw him they were unimpressed,” Trump added.

Univision Communications Inc. also announced on Thursday morning that it would not telecast the Miss USA pageant scheduled for July 12.

It terminated its relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, a group that produces the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants that Trump partly-owns.

“At Univision, we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country,” Univision said on its website.

Trump’s presidential campaign countered on Thursday that the network was caving to pressure from Mexico by blacklisting the pageants.

“The Mexican government and others are putting tremendous pressure on Univision to break their signed and fully-effective contract with the Miss Universe Organization,” it said.

“[This is] because Mr. Trump has been exposing the public, and the world, to the significant damage that is being done at the southern border, and the terrible and costly trade deals that the United States is incompetently making with Mexico,” it added. “These deals are great for Mexico and horrible for the United States.”

Trump also said he plans on suing Univision for “hundreds of millions of dollars” for breaching its contract with his Miss Universe Organization.

Trump formally launched his 2016 White House bid on June 16 from New York City’s Trump Tower.

He said during his announcement speech “the U.S. has become the dumping ground for everybody else’s problems.”

“They’re sending people who have a lot of problems,” Trump said of illegal immigration. “They bring in drugs, they bring in crime, they’re rapists. I assume some are good people.”

Presidential candidate and mogul Donald Trump says he plans to sue media giant Univision for "hundreds of millions of dollars" for severing ties with him and the Miss Universe Pageant organization.

Univision had said earlier Thursday that because of offensive comments Trump made about Mexico and Mexicans when he launched his campaign, it was breaking off with the pageant organization – of which Trump is an owner – and that it would not air the event on July 12.

Trump told Fox News’ Gretchen Carlson that Univision was breaching its contract to air the pageant for five years.

“I’m going to have to sue Univision now because I speak negatively about trade with Mexico," he said. "Univision says you have to stop talking badly about Mexico... They have a signed contract."

Trump, during the interview, did not back down from the statements he said about Mexico – but he said his words were twisted and he did not disparage all Mexicans or Latinos in general.

Latinas have played a major role in the Miss Universe pageant, winning the crown 23 times since 1952. In 2014, contestants from roughly 24 Latino countries participated.

The contract with Univision, which Trump said was a five-year, $15 million deal, was signed in January.

"They can't do this," he said. "They want me to stop saying the facts."

Univision officials told Fox News Latino they would not comment beyond this morning's statement.

But some of the news division's biggest stars -- including anchors Maria Elena Salinas and Jorge Ramos, both Mexican-American -- didn't hesitate to weigh in or suggest they agreed with Univision's move.

Anchor Maria Elena Salinas tweeted ‏"@Univision ends it's relationship with Donald Trump over insensitive comments re Mexican immigrants. Miss universe will not be broadcast."

Ramos tweeted: "Mr. Trump. Words matter and have consequences. Try running your hotels without Mexicans." And later he tweeted: "Mr. Trump: words matter. Univision won't broadcast his Miss Universe."

Michael Cohen, one of Trump's lawyers, said he was in the process of hiring outside counsel to take legal action.

"We intend to pursue all legal rights and remedies available to Mr. Trump pursuant to the terms of the license agreement as well as a defamation case against Univision," Cohen said.

Trump said in his campaign speech that Mexico imports to the United States drug dealers, rapists, and others who have an adverse impact on this country.

The candidate says, "I love the Mexican people, but I'm running for President and our country comes first."

Trump said Univision apologized to him after it made its announcement about the pageant, and told him they found themselves in a difficult spot.

In Thursday's statement, Univision said it had seen the "the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country. We will not be airing the Miss USA pageant on July 12th or working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization."

"Univision News and the local news division will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of all candidates, including Mr. Trump, to ensure our audience continues to have access to all points of view."

The mayor of Doral, Fla., the most recent location to host the Miss Universe Pageant, said Univision is right not to air the event.

“What he said about Mexicans was wrong, it was rude,” said Mayor Luigi Boria, who is of Venezuelan descent, in an interview with Fox News Latino. “The whole Latino community should care about what he said about Mexicans. We are all part of the Hispanic community. I agree with the Mexican community, they deserve respect.”

Boria said Trump must apologize.

“He better retract what he said before this grows even bigger,” Boria said. Many Latinos here and in Latin America, he said, “grow up watching Miss Universe.”

The Puerto Rican star, a former beauty queen, has joined singer J Balvin, who quit as a performer on the show on Wednesday (24Jun15), and turned her back on the pageant, citing comments Trump made during his presidential-bid speech on 16 June (15).

She says, "I was very excited and proud to have been invited to participate in Miss USA, but as a Latina, that is now inconceivable.

Although I am not Mexican, I am Puerto Rican and a proud Latina, and his comments were an insult to our culture. I won't sponsor anything produced by Donald Trump."

Sanchez was slated to co-host the Spanish-language simulcast of Miss USA alongside actor Cristian De La Fuente, who has also pulled out. Her announcement comes just hours after TV bosses at Univision announced they were ending the company's business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, based on Trump's remarks.

During his presidential campaign launch, Trump told supporters, "The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems. When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best... They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

"It's coming from more than Mexico. It's coming from all over South and Latin America, and it's coming probably - probably - from the Middle East."

NBC Distances Itself From Donald Trump In Wake Of Univision Pageant Pullout

NBCUniversal this afternoon felt compelled to distance itself from its Miss USA/Miss Universe Pageant partner — and presidential candidate/Celebrity Apprentice star —Donald Trump for saying last week that immigrants from Mexico are bringing drugs and crime and “they’re rapists.”

“Donald Trump’s opinions do not represent those of NBC, and we do not agree with his positions on a number of issues, including his recent comments on immigration,” the network said this afternoon.

NBC has deep relations with the presidential candidate. In addition to its partnership with Trump on the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, the real estate mogul has starred on The Apprentice since its inception.

NBCU’s cautious statement follows by several hours Univision’s announcement it had scrubbed plans to telecast the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants to protest “his recent, insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants,” adding, “We will not be airing the Miss USA pageant on July 12 or working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization.”

NBC still plans to broadcast the two pageants.

Meanwhile, a source with knowledge of the situation said they’d be surprised if NBCU-owned Telemundo picked up the Miss USA pageant Spanish-language broadcast.

Celebrity Apprentice, meanwhile, is thought to be on ice for now, according to informed sources, letting NBC dodge that bullet. If NBC airs the show with Trump on air, it would have a considerable equal-time headache. If NBC wants to air it while Trump’s running, they’d have to do so without Trump in the firing-chair, or risk equal time requests from other presidential candidates – what are we up to now, 13 Republican hopefuls?

When Trump announced his candidacy last week, NBC issued another of its cautious statements, saying, “We will re-evaluate Trump’s role as host of Celebrity Apprentice should it become necessary, as we are committed to this franchise.” NBC has not yet shot a new season on that franchise – and nearly two years passed between the two most recent seasons, so there is precedent here to wait quite a while before the shows next edition, enabling NBC to simply wait to see how his presidential run plays out.

And, if you’re wondering why NBC didn’t come out swinging stronger on Trump, CNN’s got the answer! It’s new poll shows, among Republicans in New Hampshire, Trump and Jeb Bush both poll at 13% when it comes to the issue of Which Candidate Will Best Handle Immigration. Which, stating the obvious as did the network’s Dana Bash, means the guy who is getting blasted by Univision for his rapist line is running neck and neck with the candidate who has a Mexican American wife and thinks “very differently about how you should reform the immigration process.”

Univision being the biggest Spanish-language broadcaster in the U.S., the last-minute cancellation is a blow the Miss Universe Organization, which is a joint venture of Trump and Comcast-owned NBCU. The Miss USA pageant is scheduled to take place in little more than two weeks and Univision was to have telecast it. Trump told Deadline, and other news outlets today, he is suing Univision, telling NBCU-owned Telemundo that Univision “violated a contract…they defaulted on a contract. They signed a five year contract with no ‘outs’.”

“And, by the way, Univision called me and they apologized for what they’re doing because they felt so stupid and so guilty,” Trump added.

Asked to elaborate, he shot back, “they have an ironclad contract to broadcast Miss USA and Miss Universe….They called me this morning like a little lamb…What they want me to do is not talk” about trade and border issues, he insisted.

“Univision didn’t like it when I said that, because their business is so strongly based in Mexico…The problem that Univision has with me is that I’m honest about trade and I’m honest about the border.”

Among the things Trump said last week, in announcing he was throwing his hat into the presidential race, was a promise to build a wall along the border with Mexico:

“I would build a Great Wall — and nobody build walls better and I will do it very inexpensively – on our southern border and have Mexico pay for it,” he began.

The U.S., Trump said, has become a dumping ground for Mexico, and other country’s “problems. “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people who have lots of problems and they’re bringing their problems: drugs,…rapists… and some, I assume are good people.”

It was part of his plan, “to make our country great again,” he said at Trump Tower that morning, ending two decades of flirtation with the idea of running for POTUS.

Meanwhile, there do not appear to be any regulations on the books that preclude a TV network from having business relations with a presidential candidate, like that NBCU has with Trump on the two pageants, while its news division covers that candidate’s campaign.

Fox News Channel said the day Trump formally announced that while he is a candidate it would discontinue his regular appearances on Fox & Friends, effective immediately.

LOS ANGELES – What are the 51 state beauty pageant winners gearing up for July 12’s Miss USA pageant going to do now?
NBC dumped Donald Trump on Monday and said the network would not be involved with – or even air – their jointly-owned Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

The Miss Universe Organization said in a statement sent to FOX411 the organization is "built on a foundation of inclusion" and they are "disheartened" by the recent events, but the show must go on.
"While world politics and other influences will undoubtedly play a role, the pageant will always seek to transcend controversy," the organization declared. "It is unfortunate that recent events beyond our control have only served to negatively impact the women who participate in the pageant, our state directors, our sponsors and our fans. We want our supporters to know we remain committed to them and we will be conducting the pageant, regardless of the current situation."

But finding someone to air the show seems to be the big challenge.

An insider connected to the Miss Universe Organization, which also operates the Miss USA and Teen USA competitions, says much of the pageant staff are “shopping for new jobs unless they can find a suitable buyer for Miss USA.”

“It doesn’t look like anyone will air it at this stage,” the source told FOX411 of the scheduled Miss USA contest. “They could possibly buy time but they’ll need to find someone to sell it to them… No one knows what will happen.”
That would leave 51 state pageant winners – many of whom have been in pageants for years and spent thousands of dollars to get to this point – with pretty dresses that only a few people will see.

Shandi Finnessey, Miss USA 2004 and 1st runner-up to Miss Universe that same year, said it’s “incredibly unfortunate that it is not being televised this year.”

“I have trained a lot of these girls for the USA pageant and they were so excited to share this experience with friends and family who would fly to Baton Rouge to watch them,” said Finnessey, who founded the pageant training company Pageantology with 2003 Miss USA Susie Castillo.

Our insider also said that NBC “had been looking for a way out of airing the show for some time, and this was the perfect out.”

“Ratings and ad revenue have slipped dramatically the last 10 years and it costs a fortune to put this on,” the source explained. “They kept it going for ‘Apprentice.’ But now that is over with Trump.

They wanted to clip it.”

Ratings for the pageant have bumped up and down from a high of 8.1 million viewers in 2005 to a low of 4.6 million in 2013. Similarly Miss Universe attracted a high of 9.2 million in 2005 to a low of 3.8 million in 2013.

Furthermore, we’re told the tourism body behind the host city Baton Rouge, LA – which has been heavily promoting the pageant and has invested a great deal of money in the event – is now “trying to salvage the millions they had tied up.”

In a statement released Monday, NBC announced that it was severing it business relationship with 2016 presidential hopeful Trump due to his “recent derogatory statements.” During his campaign launch last week, Trump accused “illegal immigrants” from Mexico of “bringing drugs, bringing crime” and being “rapists.”

"The Hispanic contestants are pretty upset about the comments," added the source. "But I am sure you'll hear a lot more about it after the competition is over."

Farouk Systems, whose hair products include Chi and Biosilk, announced on Monday it was "[withdrawing] sponsorship of Miss USA, Miss Universe, and Miss Teen USA Pageants."

"Farouk Systems does not agree with or endorse the statements recently made by Donald Trump about immigrants," said Farouk Systems CEO Basim Shami in a message posted on the company's Facebook page.

I think NBC has done a great disservice to the contestants and the city of Baton Rouge. But hey, this is show business, right? Oh no, WAIT, this is not show business, in show business, the show must go on!!

When networks decide to can a project and dump a lot of young talented women because a political candidate exercised his freedom of speech under the First Amendment about a huge problem creating a disaster for the American People, then hey, what's a citizen to do but:

No, I'm no longer a supporter of Donald Trump because of his views on women's rights and abortion. But I support his free speech to express his accurate opinion on illegal immigration which does in fact bring in drugs, criminals and rapists.

For a network to cancel a show that happens once a year and disappoint these young women and the city of Baton Rouge over political free speech on immigration, the free speech the network survives on, the free speech they and other members of our free press depend upon for their very livelihood, is pretty amazing. Trump isn't their employee, he's not speaking for the network or reflecting in anyway on the "views" of NBC, and he's not a racist and nothing he said was wrong or even inappropriate. Would I have said it differently, well, yes, but that's how Trump talks to get his point across.

So, how do you legally breach a contract like that?

While I understand that and not happy on it either no other candidate is a real supporter of any of that either except maybe Elizabeth Warren. But the truth is we will never have a candidate that will match every issue we have so we have to choose what issue is more likely to save or doom our country. A new President can't screw up abortion really or take away women's rights, they don't have that kind of power with the Constitution and the courts already having long standing precedent that won't be changed. So what issue is likely to doom our country to utter failure and who is the best choice for handling that?

To me immigration and trade agreements are the biggest threat to our country surviving with the next group of issues being welfare and bad government money management. Immigration deals with population, economy, jobs, and wage growth. Trade agreements deal with the same exact things. That makes those the #1 issue for me (and don't misunderstand, I'm not saying to just end legal immigration). Next is the defecit and how much wasteful spending their is which includes welfare and those gaming the system. That also will doom our country to going bankrupt.

Abortion is a non starter issue for a President as a President could only veto or sign a bill and that fight is now really a state fight. The law is already well set on it and can't be changed other then an Amendment which we know isn't going to happen on either side of the debate. Women's rights won't be changed either as laws are already in place along with a Constitutional understanding on the issue. Hence that is also a non starter issue. This means really abortion and women's rights is really just speaking points to drag away from the real serious country dooming issues.

So would you support someone because of issues that really won't be changed either way and are just talking points? Or support someone on what is currently desperately needed to save the country as a whole? One has to remember that there will never be the perfect candidate or perfect President.

The effort to change abortion laws is enormous through the Republican Party because of a guy named James Bopp, who represents through his law firm, all these pro-life organizations. I found his resume on the internet and he has over 40 of these organizations that he listed in his resume and probably has more he didn't name who wanted to remain anonymous. It was shocking. So who is James Bopp?

He's a two-bit lawyer from Indiana who decided in the 70's to build a law practice representing pro-life groups. He then decided that the way to do this was to infiltrate the Republican Party and instigate an anti-abortion tactic and use the Republican Party to obtain results for his law firm clients. He first got himself elected as a Delegate. Then he got himself nominated to the Platform Committee. Then he got hired as General Counsel for the Republican National Committee, then elected as Vice Chairman of the RNC. He also got himself hired as General Counsel for the Republican Governor's Association.

So I called and wrote a letter to the RNC exposing this conflict of interest a few years ago. Boom, he was out.

Now, he's just been brought back in as a "volunteer" non-compensated Assistant General Counsel of the RNC with that moron from Wisconsin, Reince Priebus, singing his praises.

So, I'll have to contact them again and explain that "volunteer" doesn't solve the conflict of interest because he's still being paid by his clients to manipulate RNC policy, contributions to candidates, platform issues, and all the rest and is still under a conflict of interest in that position.

The US House of Representatives can't pass Trey Gowdy's bill that authorizes states to enforce US immigration law, but they just passed the 20 week fetus bill and sent it to the Senate.

States with Republican Governors and legislatures have all passed laws that severely impede and restrict abortion rights, so the abortion right is in great peril with the next President who like what Trump said he would do is appoint Supreme Court Justices with his view against abortion and if you're against abortion procedures and want to ban or severely restrict them, then you are against women, because what that means is you want to force a pregnant girl or woman into childbirth against her will, risk her life, change her life and burden her in ways that are purely barbaric which means you don't care at all about that girl or that woman, have no respect for what she wants or needs, and view her as merely a reproductive vessel.

So to Trump I say, if you no longer believe in abortion, then don't have one. But how dare you think that you are representing the people of the United States, when you have no respect at all for the majority of our population who are females?

I'm so sorry, but I can not support a Pro-Life Anti-Abortion candidate for President of the United States that wants to force pregnant girls and women into childbirth against their will. Is Trump so out of touch with the reality of the situation that he doesn't understand this is what he's doing? I don't think so. I think he knows exactly what he's doing. Trump today is not the Trump we all love from 1999. He's different. Can he re-find himself and get straight? We'll see, but I'm no longer on his bumper, I'm not even in his corner. I'll support his positions and applaud him when I think he deserves it, and I will cheer and give him everything he deserves on his trade and immigration stances, except my vote because of his position on abortion. It was his choice to lose my vote and the votes of millions of other women and men who support them, who can either make or break a candidacy.

If no one believes me on that, just ask Mitt Romney. He didn't lose because of the "latino vote", he lost because he lost the "women vote".

Macy's is joining the line of companies cutting ties with Donald Trump over the real estate mogul's comments about Mexican immigrants.

In this case, it's neckties. The retailer has marketed a line of menswear with the Trump label since 2004. But in a statement issued Wednesday, Macy's said it was "disappointed and distressed" over Trump's June 16 remarks regarding U.S. immigration policy in which he made derogatory remarks about Mexicans. He said Mexican immigrants were bringing drug and crime into the U.S.

"We have no tolerance for discrimination in any form," Macy's said in a statement.

Trump made the comments at the kickoff of his campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination and has been taking heat ever since.

Trump has already lost business from Univision, which will not air the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. NBC, Trump's partners in the pageants, has also announced it will sever ties with Trump, and will keep him off his hit reality show "Celebrity Apprentice." Mexican TV companies Televisa and TV Ora have also parted ways with Trump.

The move by Macy's is a sign that the Trump brand name, a major source of income for the billionaire, is becoming tarnished as a result of the controversy.

The ties and shirts in the Trump line were still on the Macy's website Wednesday at discounted prices.

Trump has showed no sign of backing away from his immigration view. In a Tuesday interview on Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor," he said, "It's totally accurate. ... The border is a disaster."

In response to the Macy's announcement, Trump issued a tweet that said, "We must have strong borders & stop illegal immigration now!"

Trump has filed a $500-million lawsuit against Univision, saying its decision to dump his pageants is a politically motivated attempt to squelch free speech. Univision's principal owner, Haim Saban, is a supporter and fundraiser for Hillary Rodham Clinton, the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination.

Judy, while I understand where your coming from in truth most pro abortion people actually support a 20-24 week abortion ban. Its only a small number that is completely anti abortion and a small number that is for abortion up to delivery date. But to many if they can't decide in the first 5-6 months to get an abortion then that's their problem. At 5-6 months there is lots of kicking and movement going on which to many they see as life and find it acceptable to have some restrictions of that sort. I've been pro choice for years as have many of my friends and we have had this discussion many times and people seem to think having a cut off date is acceptable and even good.

With that said going any farther then that won't be allowed especially by women. That ship has long sailed and the only bit that is left is limiting 3rd trimester abortions unless mother's life is in danger.

The 20 week fetus laws and bills put it in the second trimester. The US Supreme Court put it in the states rights at 24 weeks which is the third trimester.

Pregnancy and childbirth always puts the woman's life in danger.

Is that really what you and your friends want to tell a 13 year old girl with an unwanted pregnancy she wants to terminate but who doesn't want to tell her parents or whose parents won't give her the money to pay for an abortion?

Is that really what you and your friends want to tell a 19 year old girl with an unwanted pregnancy who already works 2 jobs to support her 3 kids she already has?

Is that really what you and your friends want to tell US taxpayers who pay for most of these childbirths but are denied the common sense to pay for abortions when a financial need exists?

And they want the States and federal government to have the power to create these anomalies over an issue that only impacts less than .01% of unwanted pregnancies that for a variety of reasons are terminated in the third trimester, less than 100 a year?

Do they really want to allow the government the power to dictate such a personal, private decision that in more cases than not would become a taxpayers burden, that would risk the woman's life even though a bunch of bureaucrats right out of Rosemary's Baby said it wouldn't, that forces a girl or woman to go through that process that will change her life in ways she doesn't want or need or can stomach or tolerate for the rest of her life?

But you're right on the fact that women won't tolerate it. It's why Mitt Romney lost in 2012. It's why Trump could have otherwise won in 2016. They're big boys. It was their choice to throw an election over the issue of a girl or woman's right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy versus the power of any government to force her into childbirth against her will. What next? Dungeons where they stage and detain them for 6 months? Tracking devices during the pregnancy to ensure they don't escape to a state or another country where they can have the procedure? Murder charges?

Regardless of public opinion on the subject of the whens and under what circumstances, the people behind this movement are not the type of people who should have the power over our governments, let alone the people of the United States, least of all pregnant girls or women who for whatever reason do not want to be forced into childbirth against their will, who are the only ones qualified to decide the whens and circumstances of having a baby or not having one, precisely because at that point in time, it is "their problem", and only theirs to solve.

At 13 years of age the parents better darn well be involved!!! Someone giving my 13 year old daughter an abortion without my approval better expect a lawsuit! A child should never have the right to make such a decision without parental involvement and anyone that thinks otherwise is not thinking clearly (IMO).

It's up to your daughter to involve you not the government. If she doesn't want you involved, then that is her right not to do so. And if the procedure was performed properly, what would be your standing in the matter for a lawsuit? Why instead wouldn't you be filing statutory rape charges against the boy or man who raped her? I'm not for or against abortion. I'm Pro-Choice, which means I am for the pregnant girl or woman and whatever decision she wants to make regarding having a baby. That's not necessarily true. The requirement that minors get parental consent before having an abortion vary by state. Some states require parental consent for women under the age of 18 with exceptions for abuse, incest or neglect. I'll grant you that a handful of states have no parental consent requirement, but most do. In those handful of states the doctor still has the discretion on whether to notify parents of a planned abortion. In conclusion, no the minor child does not always have the right to decide. For goodness sake, we're talking about a 13 year old here! Heck, at that age she is probably having a difficult time deciding which shirt and pair of socks she wants to wear to school on any given day.

Oh, and that was a very smooth dodge on my specific question of when you feel an unborn child has rights. No, i'd say it's not an irrelevant question, not to the child anyway.

What I said was my opinion, not stating recent laws that have made it more difficult for girls to obtain an abortion.

A pregnant 13 year old is a child whose parents have neglected her, who haven't protected her, and who at that point have no right to involve themselves in the outcome of their own negligence without her consent. The states who have passed these laws didn't do this to protect the child, they did it to protect their own ideology against girls and women and extend this abuse of children to neglectful parents.

Since you have a daughter, I'm surprised I would have to be explaining this to you.
