were YOU surprised to see and hear Ruben Navarrette actually applaud ICE's biggest raid in Iowa (Postville)?....of course, there is always a "but".... but he wants to give them "a path to legalization", meaning citizenship....

there is a clear undercurrent here to increase "Hispanic" power.... albeit through ILLEGAL immigration. It's all about driving "white man" out of power. Having achieve very little on THEIR OWN in Latin America (500 million people producing a meager $3.5 Trillion, Vs $14 T by the US with only 300 million people), they see their chance of muscling in on OUR success by impacting ethnic balance in the US..... remember the BIG promise by Kennedy in 1965 when he agitated to brake immigratin discipline?... "no ethnic balance change"?

Here is an article acknowledging the facts and expectations by HISPANIC ENTERPRISE (from a PEW study)

TOPLINE FINDINGS
The Latino population will triple, accounting for most of the nation’s growth from 2005-2050. Hispanics will make up 29 percent of the population in 2050, compared to 14 percent in 2005.

Non-Hispanic whites will become a minority (47 percent) by 2050.

The nation’s foreign-born population, 36 million in 2005, is projected to rise to 81 million in 2050, an increase of 129 percent.

The foreign-born share of the nation’s population will exceed historic highs sometime between 2020 and 2025, when it reaches 15 percent. The historic peak was 14.7 percent in 1910 and 14.8 percent in 1890.

The share of children who are Hispanic will rise markedly, from 20 percent in 2005 to 35 percent in 2050. Non-Hispanic whites, who made up 59 percent of children in 2005, are projected to be 40 percent of children in 2050.

The proportion of Hispanics in the elderly population will almost triple, from 6 percent to 17 percent, between 2005 and 2050 but will be substantially less than the proportion of Hispanics in younger age groups.

Like McCain, I do NOT trust Navarrette in this conversion. His columns have always been straddling the dividing line; I always thought he craved "approval and respect" from both sides, which is why he produced so many ambivalent columns....
