    The National Latino Congreso

This gives us some names that we should all be aware of. Be sure to note those who supplied support and MONEY to this bunch of law breakers.

    http://www.latinocongreso.org/

You are invited to the National Latino Congreso, the first comprehensive gathering of Latino leaders, organizations and elected officials since 1977!

Online registration for this event will start on Wednesday, July 26, 2006.

For a PDF version of the registration brochure Click here.

The Congress will take place September 6-10, 2006, at the Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown.
It will establish a long-term Latino agenda and action plan, educate and train a wide range of Latino community leaders, elected officials and activists on critical issues, and mobilize Latino community leaders, with a special emphasis on establishing opportunities for new and young leaders.

The event is expected to draw 2,000 delegates representing leaders from community organizations, labor and business community, religious groups, student organizations, environmental, health and community development groups.

The National Latino Congreso is convened by the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA), the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities (NALACC), the National Hispanic Environmental Council (NHEC), Southwest Voter Registration Education Project (SVREP), the William C. Velasquez Institute (WCVI), and Earth Day Network (EDN).

The above-mentioned entities have worked together on a range of issues over many years and believe that the U.S. Latino community is at a fundamental crossroads that requires the intensification and broadening of our agenda. While Latino electoral influence and potential has reached unprecedented heights, successes in Latino governance and policy initiatives have been insufficient to close the yawning gap between our community and the "majority" in terms of educational attainment, access to healthcare and homeownership, livable communities, public health, income, employment and wealth, criminal justice, and especiallyrights for immigrants.

We therefore believe it is time to initiate a thoroughgoing debate on tactics and strategies for more effectively using Latino electoral influence and governance/policy assets to better achieve greater change and justice for our communities, nation, hemisphereand world.

Participants in the National Latino Congreso will come from across the United States. The National Latino Congreso will target widespread participation from tens of thousands of Latino led organizations/business/unions/churches,networks, etc. plus 5,300 plus U.S Latino elected officials.

At the Latino Congreso information will be delivered, issues will be discussed, strategies will be proposed, and decisions will be made by delegates and observers representing the breadth of the community. Our hope is that a new agenda for today and the next generation will be born. We invite your participation.

    Oh, goody, goody!!

Let's set up an (outwardly) corrupt Mexican style government here. It would match the one in Mexico perfectly.

Well, we do have a corrupt government - but it's "living in the shadows" with all those "undocumented workers"

I know it's very highly unlikely, but it was a nice thought.
