Absolut - More info
Here is an email I received - I agree, contacting the other companies that the Mexican ad agency represents is a good idea. They are listed below and are on Mexican's ad agency's website http://www.terantbwa.com.mx/ingles/index.html
“The Swedes got blind-sided BIG TIME by their Mexican ad agency. I don't think that the makers of Absolut understood what was really going on with this Reconquista map ad. Absolut is being punished for the activities of a Mexican company. To be fair, we need to punish the Mexican company, too.
You will notice that the map only showed the parts of Mexico ceded to the US, but not the southern parts that broke away and formed the Central American countries. Had the Mexican ad been only about "better times" in Mexico, the map would have shown the "Mexican Empire" extending all the way to Panama. This was a well thought out propaganda assault on the USA by a Mexican company. They should feel the heat and the pain for their error in judgement and their blatant propaganda attack upon the USA.
So, while I still will boycott Absolut (buy American, buy Skyy) I think we need to go after the REAL offender, the Mexican ad agency that conceived and produced the Absolut ad campaign in the first place.
The best way to stick it to the Mexican ad agency over their incendiary propaganda attack is to go after their other accounts with the threat of boycott if they don't sever their relationship with the very offensive ad agency. If we are going to boycott Absolut, we should also boycott all other companies doing business with the agency that put out the Reconquista propaganda.
The Mexican ad agency's website, Teran/TBWA: http://www.terantbwa.com.mx/ingles/index.html
E-mail contact address: bolsadetrabajo@terantbwa.com.mx

Sample memo to those who use Teran/TBWA as their ad agency in Mexico:
You may be aware of the problems Absolut vodka has had over an ad designed and run by the agency you are currently using in Mexico, Teran/TWBA. The makers of Absolut have been forced to issue a public apology for that incendiary piece of Mexican propaganda and are now facing a boycott of their product in the US market by millions of angry Americans. This will have a significant effect on the sale of Absolut to Pernod Ricard later this summer. Should your company wish to avoid a boycott of your products, too, you need to find a different ad agency to represent your company in Mexico. All companies associated with the very offensive Teran/TWBA, will be boycotted. For the sake of your bottom line, it would be advisable for you to sever all ties to Teran/TWBA as soon as possible to avoid being included in the boycott.

I don't buy it that the Sweden people didn't now. It doesn't take Eistein to know that if you put out a "political" map and it is different from the current map, you're going to piss off one of the sides.
They just didn't expect how made we'd be.

Great post Melissa, I like writing corporations and telling them what is on my mind. They seem so attentive to my concerns, to bad my politicians did not get paid according to the power of MY dollar!

I agree - we shouldn't let the Swedish Absolut off the hook. I just thought people might want to contact some of the Mexican ad agency's current customers so that they also feel the pain.

To those who are sitting on the side lines, join in! Would you like to get the politicians attention? Go after the corporations, they have a big voice in Washington. Go for the jugular, go for the money, show me the money!
Vinegar and honey are both sold for money!

Okay I emailed all their customers with the sample message, Then I email them telling them what I just did, showing the list of customers, and the message.
I couldn’t help myself I closed the email with:
“In closing let me add, your country, mexico, is a cesspool of scumâ€<div>“There is no longer any Left or Right, there is only Tyranny or Liberty ”</div>

Re: Absolut - More info
This does makes a good point - the thing pointed out about the ad failing to show other former mexican territory in central america confirms in no uncertain forms that it is an aztlan map.
