So this is the story the Justice Dept is telling about our two border patrol agents......

Thank you for contacting me concerning the conviction of border-patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to take this opportunity to respond.

As you may know, the incident for which they were prosecuted occurred on February 17, 2005 near EI Paso, Texas. According to a statement released by the United States Department of Justice, Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila was attempting to surrender by holding his open hands in the air when Agent Compean tried to hit him with the butt of a shotgun. This caused Mr. Aldrete-Davila to run in fear of what the agents would do to him next. Although both agents saw that Mr. Aldrete-Davila was not armed, the agents fired at least 15 rounds at him while he was running away, hitting him once.

On March 8, 2006, the twelve-member jury unanimously found the defendants guilty beyond a reasonable doubt on eleven of the twelve counts alleged in the indictment, including assault with a dangerous weapon, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, discharge of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, and willfully violating Mr. Aldrete¬Davila's Fourth Amendment right to be free from illegal seizure. The agents were also convicted for obstructing justice by intentionally defacing the crime scene, lying about the incident, and failing to report the truth.

Border patrol agents play a vital role in the effort to secure our borders, and I will continue to look for ways to support our agents and the important work they are doing. As a United States Senator, however, it would be inappropriate for me to intervene in a judicial proceeding such as the one involving Mr. Ramos and Mr. Compean.

Please know that I share your concerns about the security of our nation's borders. You may know that I have consistently supported measures designed to prevent illegal immigration and drug smuggling. These include measures to increase the number of border agents, augment existing detention bed space, and expand the amount of fencing along the border.

Ignacio Ramos Jose Alonso border patrol agents. We, your constituents want these two border control agents released immediately !!! . They shot a drug smuggler.... an illegal entering our country with intent to do harm. They should be honored as hero's, rather than criminals. Illegals have no rights !!!!! They have no protection under our constitution !!!!! We the taxpayers of America do have rights !!!! We do have protection under our constitution and we demand you act now in the capacity of your job to protect our rights !!! Furthermore, we want every illegal immigrant found in this country deported !!!!! As the USA continues to be invaded by a third world nation, we ask you to protect the interests of your constients by securing our borders, and securing our nation through the deportation of those who do not belong here. What is it about the word "illegal" no one in our Congress or Senate understands?
Let me take you back to elementary school.. There is right and wrong. Illegal equals wrong. Stop the illegal now !!! Do you job for God's sake and deport the illegals here. Legal immigration yes...illegal no !! 5th Grade, easy.

Since when do illegal aliens have 4th amendment rights. I just read an article on here last night where Tancredo said that immigrants in this country have these rights but illegal aliens do not under the constitution.

I haven'r rec'ed any type of reply from my Senators. Although, I would imagine Sen. DeWine R - OH is fighting for his political life. He's in a tuff reelection campaign against Sherrod Brown D and is behind in the polls. It could go either way. I think Brown will win.

You broke the law...these agents DID THEIR JOB...unlike most of YOU...who work less than 100 days ...and make BIG BUCKS...even when you retire and even if you go to jail. I think we need to change this! You should also have the same retirement and social security plan. Maybe this will bring you back down to earth and get you off your high horses!
