Thread: Group sends immigration warning during GOP debate

Civil rights leader Barbara Jordan made an unexpected appearance in Tuesday's GOP debate, popping up in an ad that was sponsored by D.C.-based immigration reform group, NumbersUSA.

The group ran the 30-second ad to remind Americans of the conclusion the U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform chairwoman delivered before Congress 20 years ago.

"The commission finds no national interest in continuing to import lesser skilled and unskilled workers to compete in the most vulnerable parts of our neighborhoods," Jordan said.

"Many American workers do not have adequate job prospects. We should make their task easier to find employment not harder."

NumbersUSA president, Roy Beck, told the Washington Examiner they chose to build the ad around the commissioner in order to show that politcians, both Democratic and Republican,

have long-called for an end to immigration policies that do not represent the national interest.
