    Any predictions ?

Do you have any predictions on how we will get actual border and work place enforcement after this bill is defeated?

Will bush do anything to enforce our Southern border or start the basic pilot program?

Do you think the new house bill is what we have been looking for?

The court battles may be the key, as state and local governments attempt to pass ordinances that the lawyers lobby will try to overturn. Very soon the Supreme Court will decide how US immigration policy is to be handled. Is it strictly the domain of federal law? after all it deals with the very issue of citizenship and rights of nationals vs, legal rights of visitors.

If local ordianaces are struck down, because they make obvious refernce to citizenship issues, perhaps local governments can find some loophole in that stipulation, thus bringing the real, down to earth practices back under local control. Barring that it might get down to zoning fights. I think that is why so much is being put into deciding this at the federal level.

If we can kill "The Thing" in the Senate next week (and that's still a big IF at the moment so we have to keep working our tails off) then I think we might be able to start pushing for a separation of the issues. End once and for all this "comprehensive" scheme.

Showing that an outraged public has the juice with Washington to kill it will put us in a stronger position to insist on FIRST a border enforcement/fence bill, then SECOND interior enforcement/employer sanction legislation. After they (the Adminstration and it's assorted bureaucrats) show us they are serious about enforcement THEN and only THEN do we talk about a permanent fix for the 15-to-20 million who are here illegally.

That was a nice daydream in the middle of all this work. Sure was nice while it lasted. Thanks Greg. I needed that!

    I agree Rockfish!
No immigration bill should be signed under the current so-called prez because what he wants would be a disaster.
This issue should be discussed among the 2008 candidates, make them come out and talk about it instead of trying to hide from it.

You sure hit the nail on the head here Jean. Have you noticed the Democrats are very, very quiet on this issue?

Yes, they are very very quiet. They don't want to go there, they might offend someone.
