    Editorial-It’s What They Asked For

    It’s What They Asked For

Alabama’s new anti-immigrant law, the nation’s harshest, went into effect last month (a few provisions have been temporarily blocked in federal court), and it is already reaping a bitter harvest of dislocation and fear. Hispanic homes are emptying, businesses are closing, employers are wondering where their workers have gone. Parents who have not yet figured out where to go are lying low and keeping children home from school.

[b]To the law’s architects and supporters, this is excellent news. “You’re encouraging people to comply with the law on their own,â€

Not buying this pablum, no siree! Paperwork is a way of life, we all deal with it. Can't prove who you are? No bennies! Can't prove you are here legally? NO bennies! Alabama taxpayers (and US taxpayers) are winning here. NO to CIR ever.

Attritiion through enforcement is the only humane way to deal with this massive nightmare. Keep it up!

Oh, no. The old tomatoes are rotting in the fields argument. Do you really think we'd fall for it just this once?

Sweet home alabama! Love it of coarse the obl'ers are going to focus on the negative aspect of this they're loosing in this state and their only recourse is to talk on those issues. Their not going to say that now the student to teacher ratio is better or how americans are stepping up to fill the void of the illegal immigrant or about how people on welfare in this state just went down. They don't want you to belive americans can do any of that their too busy selling the idea that we cannot live with out these people!
