I read a story this morning about a woman who from Michigan who often goes into Canada and back. She was complaining about Bush's proposal that all Americans who travel back and forth between US Canada and Mexico have passports. She didn't like the cost: $97. So, due to the uproar over the cost of passports, it's been proposed instead that American have tamper-proof ID cards to get back into the country, which of course is probably better, at least from a cost standpoint. BUT HERES THE THING: Our government has no problem forcing it's own citizens to prove they belong here and make us jump through hoops, while at the same time they do not enforce other immigration laws throughout this nation.
I don't mind the idea of id cards, or even passports. I never left anything in Mexico anyway, so I have to reason to go there. Besides, the Mexicans, Purto Ricans and Cubans have worked so hard to bring their culture here, I get a big taste of it everytime i walk out my door. I just wish our government would treat their own citizenry as good as they do the criminal illegals immigrants. I mean, if they need health care, they get it; need food stamps, they get that too. The whine and cry like babies when they are treated like the criminals they are. Excuse me while I puke.
