Seven amnestys for illegals since 1986

Just found this. Don't know if it has been posted before.

The amnesty of 1986 was supposed to be a "one time only" amnesty. Yet since 1986, Congress passed a total of 7 amnesties for illegal aliens:

The Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA) Amnesty of 1986 - the "one-time only" blanket amnesty for some 2.8 million illegal aliens.
Section 245(i) The Amnesty of 1994 - a temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens.
Section 245(i) The Extension Amnesty of 1997 - an extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994.
The Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty of 1997 - an amnesty for nearly one million illegal aliens from Central America.
The Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA) of 1998 - an amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.
The Late Amnesty of 2000 - an amnesty for approximately 400,000 illegal aliens who claimed they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty.
The LIFE Act Amnesty of 2000 - a reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty to an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens.

And yet they still want more
Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.

Good grief keep that information on hand for the next time we call Congress. They really hid some of these from the US citizen.

Now, could someone remind me which one of those actually stopped illegal immigration ? Because, after all, part of the justification for doing those amnesties too if you recall...

(eg. to borrow from Albert Einstein's famous words about the definition of insanity - to do the same behavior repeatedly with the expectation of a different outcome...)

Indeed, amnesties aren't the solution because, surprise, they are the problem!.

The ones since the big one in the 80s have been for illegal family members of citizens. I'm sorry but if you marry an illegal, you should know what you're getting into. It's not our job to accommodate your and anchor babies by giving your husband or wife amnesty. They should have thought of that before they snuck into this country.

The greed of the cheap labor lobby and ethnocentric activists is insatiable. This is why the American people reject any further amnesties -- it's well past the time to focus on consistent enforcement of immigration laws and in general have a honest debate on what levels of legal immigration are best for our country.

Any further amnesties will only exacerbate the problem. This of course includes "pathways to citizenship," "make them learn English and pay a (small) fine" etc., all of which are euphemisms for mass amnesty.

Well that would meet the definition of insanity . . . doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Great point. It will never end if they grant another amnesty. It will only exacerbate the problem. Its amazing that so few people in our government look at the problem honestly, straight-forwardly, and with the best intentions for our nation in mind. There is no way anyone in government actually believes that another amnesty will work. None of them. They all know that it is yet another of a series of immigration disasters. But it helps big business, and that is all that matters for them.
