Did the Hate Crimes bill pass?

I just got an e mail today that said the hate crimes bill is being shoved in by Reeeeeiiiiid. I think the hate crimes bill will be another tool for illegal from mexico to use against Americans. We already have enough laws on the book that deal with regular crimes harshly enough.

I believe that is bill S 909 and on 4/28/2009:
Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

They may have voted on it today but it was not voted on by the full Senate today.

Is there an active House version? They could have passed something over there but I don't know.

I had heard that they were waiting in order to attach it to another bill rather than having it stand alone. I believe I read it on the WND site.
