Did Thompson Lend a Hand to His Friend McCain's Win in SC?

Some of the pundits on Fox News are saying that Thompson stayed in the GOP race to help McCain win SC, takng votes away from Huckabee. Looking back now at one of the GOP debates where Thompson came out strongly critizing Huckabee's previous stance on illegal immigration and a lot of other areas, yet never confronted McCain about the same issues in that debate. The pundits also mentioned that independent voters helped McCain win in SC.

I would think that Thompson's days in this campaign are numbered. So what if he endorses McSlime. I seriously doubt that the desires of his supporters match with what McSlime has to offer. Think about it. They will look for the next closest candidate that matches their views. That ISN'T McSlime. If anything Thompson was to the right of Romney. McSlime is to the left of Joseph Stalin.
The primaries are going to be getting into states with closed primaries, this will not bode well for McSlime. What happened in Nevada???? Nevada is practically a home state for him!!!! He was 3rd!!! I doubt he'll win his home state on Feb. 5th. What will that do for his "momentum"?? I doubt any western states will support him as they understand the immigration thing much better. California won't go for him. I think we have better days ahead. Heck, Romney still has double the delegates mcSlime has!

I'm still in shock over S.C. going to McCain. I post on a lot of forums and haven't heard one person say they would vote for him.

I'm sorry to see Hunter drop out. He was my first choice, but I don't think he had the money to continue.

My next choice is Fred Thompson ...... I can't believe he would back mccain. Unfortunately, I guess some people were right in saying that he came into the race too late....otherwise, I think he would do much better.

The only bright spot with the S.C. voters is that they didn't vote for the huckster.

I posted this last night and I don't even watch FOX. I believe it is obvious:

The no. 1 issue for S.C. voters was illegal immigration, but they split their vote between Huckabilly who signed the no amnesty pledge and Thompson who is campaigning to deport illegals; giving McCain the win.

Thompson is an actor and one of John McCain's best friends. Thompson's job in S.C. was to split the vote enough between he, Huckabee and Romney to give SC to McCain. He delivered, but the more I think about it; the more I understand it was not South Carolina's fault. They were just taken in by the Karl Rove machine.

Thompson voted the same as McCain- He is helping McCain win

Fred Thompson - where has he been all this time? Last year I strongly yearned for Fred Thompson to enter the GOP race for president because I was looking for a strong conservative to enter the race, who can actually get some traction and win. Like most conservatives, I was abysmally disappointed that Guiliani and McCain were far ahead in the race, because neither of them was a conservative in any way except in national security. I was particularly concerned because many assumed in a two man race that the social conservatives would eventually rally to John McCain instead of Guiliani, making him the frontrunner.

This was expected, even though McCain had proven himself to be a liberal many times on the national stage as he pushed for an amnesty bill that would reward 12 million lawbreakers by letting them stay in this country - while millions who followed the laws had to stay in line outside. This is a bill he still supports - all the while denying it is amnesty - while only changing his position enough to allow us to bully him into accepting a border fence.

McCain worked with the Democrats to deny the freedom of speech during elections with his so-called McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform. So that now regular people and organizations can’t make their views known, but a wealthy, socialist billionaire like George Soros gets to buy elections for his friends through his 527 groups.

Then, just when conservatives in the Senate were about to break the log-jam on the president’s judicial nominations, who comes to the rescue of the Democrats but John McCain and six other liberal Republicans who cut the legs out from under the Republican majority with their “gang of 14â€

My prediction for south carolina was right on-Tom tancredo's Endorsement of romney got some of the anti - illegal immigration votes for Romney-Fred Thompson got someone of the anti -illegal vote-religous people voted partly for huckster because that is always thier main issue.South Carolina is the highest state of retired military personel-votes for mccain--also peole who have moved from other parts of the south voted for mccain. If you take out anyone of the 4 man race, mccain loses -The assumption that mccain is going to win because every nominee from republicans since 1980 has won after winning south carolina does not mean much if you break it down -no won was going to beat reagan in 1980-1984-reagan had little opposition -1988 -the first george bush rode reagans coat tails and everyone knew he would be nominee-1992-incumbunt bush sr was not going to not be up for reelection-1996 was really the first where most well known could really lose and he did not-2000 -bush one and really was the front runner in most peoples minds anyway-2004-no opposition-so really only 1996 and 2000 had any doubt and the peole who were expected to win those won anyway also

meant to say that in 1992 that bush senior was not going to be beat as incumbunt running for reelection in the primary -people just remember that year as different because Pat Buccannon won new hanpshire primary, but he had no real chance to unseat a sitting president-also people who moved from northeast and place other than the south tended to vote for mccain yesterday

I agree that Thompson is only staying in the race to help his buddy McCain. Thompson takes away votes from Romney and this is their strategy.

I think Fred initially got in the race for himself and then discovered how much work it would be and didnt like it. So he hardly campaigned at all until this last week in NV.

I think McCain begged him to stay in until the Feb 5 national primary and so far it is working.

WE need to spread this far and wide to Fre'd supporters before it is too late.

We need to start calling Thompson's office to tell him to DROP OUT OF THE RACE NOW!!!

We need to start calling the national RNC to tell them to FORCE Thompson to drop out now-------because if Guliani, Huckabee, or McCain become the nominee-----we will not vote or we will vote for a DEM.

The RNC forced Mel Martinez out due to the number of calls/complaints about him that they were receiving------they will do the same thing to Thompson if enough of us call!!!

I agree with TrueTexan and the others about Thompson he is just in the race for McCain now. Their close personal and political connection tends to prove that. Does anyone have any links that document these facts. If we could find some they would be good to start shareing with our friends in Florida.
