CBP Officers Seize Cash At Washington Port

Canadian Arrested with more than Half Million Dollars in Vehicle

Oroville, Wash. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laurier port of entry interdicted a 66-year-old Kelowna, British Columbia, man attempting to smuggle bulk currency into the United States concealed within his sports utility vehicle.

Richard Neumeyer was taken into custody on May 21, after officers discovered two secret compartments in the floor of his 2006 Volvo. When the compartments were opened, a visual inspection revealed numerous plastic wrapped bundles of currency. A total of sixteen bundles containing $510,000 U.S. dollars and $10,000 Canadian dollars were removed.
