    Marijuana worth an estimated $600,000 was found hidden in the gas tank of a commercial tour bus that tried to enter the United States last week at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, federal officials said Monday.

    The bus driver, a 38-year-old Mexican citizen who had a valid border-crossing card, was arrested.

    A U.S. Customs and Border Protection K-9 alerted to the bus while it was in line at the port about 9:30 a.m. on Friday. CBP officers found 252 packages of marijuana weighing about 998 pounds in the gas tank.

    The driver was booked into the Metropolitan Correction Center in downtown San Diego. The bus was seized by the CBP.

    These sort of scenarios will become routine once the Mexican trucks get rolling across our border on a regular basis.

    A tour bus today, a produce hauling tractor-trailer tomorrow.
