Thomas Saenz, president of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, which is based in Los Angeles, said the Latino community is most at issue in discussions about citizenship by birth and said it's hard not to see that the reinvigorated debate is really about opposition to demographic changes.

"You see in many of the comments by proponents concerns about demographic change in this country," Saenz said. "Yes. the 2010 census confirms that Latinos are now the largest minority group of the country. We are 16.3 percent of the population which means that nearly one in six Americans are Latino."
Opposition to demographic changes? How about opposition to breaking and entering and getting all the benefits of a legal citizen?

How about opposition to getting on all our benefits without having "skin in the game"?

How about opposition to people who broke electing politicians that condone and protect their illegal behavior?

I just don't understand how people can claim these people are just trying to make a better life for themselves while working under the table and not paying taxes. Something a citizen would be seriously penalized for and possibly do jail time. No one even stops to consider how much of our money ends up being sent to Mexico to help their economy. Enough to get California out of debt.

I say End Birthright Citizenship. I'm in California, was in Arizona. It's all over the place in BOTH states. At least Arizona is fighting back.

And so what if it is? We are more concerned about how these people became the larger minority over the years. You have cheated the system and you have cheated the people that have gone out of their ways to do it the legal way. Just more pissin and moanin from this group. Frankly I wish you would just go back to Mexico or any other country if you are here illegally and produce offspring that my taxes have to pay for.

If your people are so great and your country of origin is so great then PLEASE LEAVE and find your fortunes there.

The association, which is holding its annual meeting in Toronto,
WAit a minute. Toronto Canada is where they are having their meetings and they are the AMERICAN BAR.......so why are they spending the money in Canada? Why not here, where it is needed?

Lawyers are the ones that have created a lot of the mess this country is in today. North Carolina you can not do anything without a lawyer....don't believe me ,just get a traffic ticket or something hare and your mailbox is flooded with letters from lawyers wanting to represent you.

I noticed that too. Just symptomatic of how their minds work.
