    John McCain raises "Immigration Reform"

PoliticsU.S. senator says immigration reform depends on election results

UCSON – Arizona's Republican Sen. John McCain does not dismiss the possibility that in 2017 the Senate will will again move forward with the immigration reform bill that in 2013 was left bogged down in the lower house with its conservative majority.
"Sooner or later, depending on the results of the election, we'll have to take up that subject again," McCain, whose popularity has declined and who faces a hard time getting reelected, told EFE in an interview.
"You've seen what I have done," the war veteran said about how he helped get "the immigration plan passed that the eight of us put together in the Senate."
In 2013, eight senators from both parties, including McCain, got an immigration reform bill passed that subsequently went nowhere in the House of Representatives, because then-Speaker John Boehner, a Republican, refused to bring it to a vote.
McCain, first elected 30 years ago, is attempting this electoral year to stay in office for a sixth term, and to do that he is attempting to win the Latino vote.
"I've worked very hard to win it. We know we have to keep working to win it," said McCain, who last March received the support of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, or USHCC.
McCain, who in 2008 was the official presidential candidate of the Republican Party, said once more that it's impossible to talk about immigration reform without mentioning stronger border security.
"We're currently installing watchtowers - I believe that's a better choice than having an agent sitting in front of a wall in a patrol car at 115 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Centigrade).
He also considers using drones for surveillance from the air, particularly because, he said, the trafficking of synthetic drugs from Mexico has increased.
"Border security is a really important subject, especially now with the possibility of members of terrorist groups trying to cross it," he said.
"These are turbulent times in politics," McCain said, referring to the fact that his Democratic rival, Ann Kirkpatrick, is linking him with Trump's anti-immigrant policies.
"I said I would support my party's nominee, but obviously there are great disagreements between us," McCain said.
According to a survey last May by Public Policy Polling, only 34 percent of Arizona voters are satisfied with his work, while 52 percent disapprove and 14 percent are undecided.

Go Kelli Ward! Give him hell and shut him down. We don't just need border security to keep out terrorists. We need border security to keep out EVERYONE who isn't supposed to be here. Period.
