Republicans Warn of Violence If Obama Signs Immigration Order (Video)

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) claims there could be "violence" if President Obama signs an executive order on immigration this week.
"The country's going to go nuts, because they're going to see it as a move outside the authority of the president, and it's going to be a very serious situation," Sen. Coburn told USA Today (video below).
"You're going to see, hopefully not, but you could see instances of anarchy... You could see violence," added Sen. Coburn.

Sen. Coburn also accused President Obama of acting like "an autocratic leader that's going to disregard what the Constitution says and make law anyway."

Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) told Newsmax earlier this week that President Obama was going to cause a "constitutional crisis," noted RightWingWatch.org (video below).

“The country is witnessing something right now that I don’t think in our entire history we’ve ever looked at, a constitutional crisis,” said Rep. Kelly.
“Right now in the history of our country we have never had such an internal crisis as we’ve had, not since the mid-1800s, of what we’re going through right now," added Rep. Kelly. "Why would this president choose this issue and cause a constitutional crisis?"
"Obama is making a powerful and dangerous symbolic declaration to large Spanish media audiences today comparing his new immigration orders to the violent Mexican revolution and civil war!" William Gheen, President of Americans for Legal Immigration (an anti-immigrant group), said in a press release.
Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly told WorldNet Daily that Obama's upcoming executive order was like the Pearl Harbor attack of 1941 with one difference.
“With Pearl Harbor, the American people knew what was happening,” said Schlafly.
However, none of the Republicans mentioned that President Ronald Reagan gave amnesty to undocumented family members of immigrants in 1986 without the approval of Congress, noted the Associated Press.

Nor did they mention President George W. Bush ignoring Congress on immigration.
The Associated Press reported in 2007:

Frustrated by Congress’ inability or unwillingness to pass the president’s agenda, the administration already is taking steps to do it through executive action.

With his immigration bill dead, the administration rolled out a proposed rule to address some of the major issues in the failed legislation. It will tighten border security, streamline guest-worker programs and pressure employers to fire illegal immigrant workers.

Bush said it was an example of acting within the boundaries of existing law when Congress failed to act.
