PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he's all too familiar with a man he believes committed as many as eight carjackings across the Valley in just a few hours on Tuesday.

Raul Eduardo Gonzales allegedly carjacked more than a half a dozen people from Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue to Loop 303 in the far west Valley, sheriff's deputies said.

Arpaio said he arrested Gonzales once before under the state's immigrant smuggling law.

Gonzales was reportedly last seen in the Flagstaff area and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said it believes he is still in the northern part of the state.

Authorities describe Gonzales as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds.

Sheriff's deputies said he is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Gonzales' alleged crime spree started around 9:30 a.m. in Phoenix with a home invasion and carjacking, according to sheriff's deputies. From there, Gonzales drove to 99th Avenue and Greenway where he allegedly carjacked another vehicle, deputies said. There were a number of other random carjackings that involved at least six other vehicles, according to authorities.
