04-29-2007, 11:00 PM #11Fining students? Why aren't you kicking them to the curb?Susan Carlson, a spokeswoman for the United ISD in Laredo, said her district's schools are extra vigilant with residency checks and recently began fining students found breaking residency rules.

I disagree! The businesses that employ illegals should be made to suffer the consequences of their actions (huge fines) and the illegals they employed should be deported immediately. The businesses that employ the illegals should be paying for their schooling, healthcare, housing and welfare benefits.

04-29-2007, 11:14 PM #13I don't believe that law was meant to mean illegal aliens, I believe it was meant to protect poor children that are citizen of this nation.

14th Amendment
A 1982 ruling (Plyler v Doe) in Texas disenfranchised US Citizenship by forcing TEXAS to provide any and all services to Illegal aliens which they provide to Citizens. and declared that under the 14th Amendment there is no difference between a citizen and anyone who happens to be in the State.
Yes Texas, The US Supreme Court took away your citizenship, THIRTY yeas ago.
Plyler v. Doe (1982)
In Plyler v. Doe, the Supreme Court struck down a Texas law prohibiting enrollment of illegal aliens in public school. In its decision, the Court held, “The illegal aliens who are plaintiffs in these cases challenging the statute may claim the benefit of the Equal Protection Clause, which provides that no State shall ‘deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.’ Whatever his status under the immigration laws, an alien is a ‘person’ in any ordinary sense of that term… The undocumented status of these children vel non does not establish a sufficient rational basis for denying them benefits that the State affords other residents.â€
