“Climate Chaos” is Coming in _______! What Do the French Know That We Don’t?

    By Norvell Rose
    1 2:37 pm May 14, 2014

Ah, oui, the French know so much about so much. Like, how to cook fat, juicy snails so they’re deliciously delectable. Or how to create a really cool theme park — Napoleonland, in honor of the man who ravaged Europe in the name of French nationalism.
So, what do they know about the climate that lets a high-ranking French official make this precise prediction of calamity?
The French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, has paid a visit to the U.S. State Department in Washington. There, he delivered a rather dire, but unsubstantiated, warning about climate change. Fabius said the world has only 500 days left to avoid “climate chaos”.
    From the Weekly Standard:
…we have 500 days to avoid climate chaos. And I know that President Obama and John Kerry himself are committed on this subject and I’m sure that with them, with a lot of other friends, we shall be able to reach success on this very important matter.
“Climate chaos”? “Reach success”? What the heck does all that mean?
A clue to the mysterious “500 days” comment: France is scheduled to host the “21st Conference of the Parties on Climate Change” in December 2015, about 565 days from now. If we survive that long.

Its official, climate scientists were wrong: There’s been no global warming for nearly 18 years

And the “Great Pause” continues. According to RSS satellite data, average global temperatures have not risen in nearly 18 years.

    From WattsUpWithThat:

Remarkably, the El Niño warming of this year has not yet shortened the Great Pause, which, like last month, stands at 17 years 10 months with no global warming at all.

Taking the least-squares linear-regression trend on Remote Sensing Systems’ satellite-based monthly global mean lower-troposphere temperature dataset, there has been no global warming – none at all – for 214 months. This is the longest continuous period without any warming in the global instrumental temperature record since the satellites first watched in 1979. It has endured for about half the satellite temperature record. Yet the Great Pause coincides with a continuing, rapid increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration.

…The Great Pause is a growing embarrassment to those who had told us with “substantial confidence” that the science was settled and the debate over. Nature had other ideas. Though more than two dozen more or less implausible excuses for the Pause are appearing in nervous reviewed journals, the possibility that the Pause is occurring because the computer models are simply wrong about the sensitivity of temperature to manmade greenhouse gases can no longer be dismissed.

As I always say, I’m not a climate scientist. But as logic should dictate to any objective person, the science isn’t settled. The projections were wrong. And while climate scientists scramble to find excuses as to why they were wrong, the fact that they were wrong is indisputable. This leads to the logical question: If the alarmists were so blatantly wrong about their predictions, why would we trust their excuses?

Can government order a perfect climate?
Lerner & Lowe thought so, and set it to music.

... 'As best CFACT’s extensive network of climate experts can determine, there was only one time in all of human history when people were actually able to control our Earth’s climate and weather. And they did it via executive order and government edicts, which may be where the IPCC, President Obama, EPA and Michael Mann got their inspiration. We all know this era. It was just prior to the Medieval Warm Period, if we have our history correct – and it was truly a wondrous era for mankind. Let’s revisit those perfect, mystical days for just a moment, as we listen to Richard Harris explaining how extensively the British government was able to control the climate in days of yore.'

As best CFACT’s extensive network of climate experts can determine, there was only one time in all of human history when people were actually able to control our Earth’s climate and weather. It’s true! It’s true! The crown has made it clear.
The climate must be perfect all the year.
A law was made a distant moon ago here:
July and August cannot be too hot.
And there’s a legal limit to the snow here
    In Camelot.
The winter is forbidden till December
And exits March the second on the dot.
By order, summer lingers through September
    In Camelot.
    Camelot! Camelot!
I know it sounds a bit bizarre,
    But in Camelot, Camelot
    That’s how conditions are.
The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
    In short, there’s simply not
    A more congenial spot
    For happily-ever-aftering than here
    In Camelot.
    Camelot! Camelot!
I know it gives a person pause,
    But in Camelot, Camelot
    Those are the legal laws.
The snow may never slush upon the hillside.
By nine p.m. the moonlight must appear.
    In short, there’s simply not
    A more congenial spot
    For happily-ever-aftering than here
    In Camelot.
