Home invaders terrorized a man in Albuquerque Wednesday night.
The victim told police the men rang his doorbell around 9 p.m. and when he answered, they pointed a gun at his head. They led him into the home and tied him up with duct tape and electric cords. Then they beat him and tore through his home.
The intruders stole everything out of his wallet, took some electronics, including his phone, and took his blue Mitsubishi.
The invaders left around one Thursday morning. The victim then moved himself to the phone in his kitchen and called police. When the victim's family found out about the attack, they sped over from their home in Las Vegas.
"You see it all around you, but you think that it will never happen to you . And actually, when it does happen to you, you're in disbelief, in shock," the victim's sister said.
Something else shocking happened for the investigation, too. One of the intruders used the victim's cell phone to call his mother. He told her to come over quickly because her son could die. Another relative of the victim received three phone calls from the stolen cell phone later that morning around 4 a.m.
"Very sick people. People that need help. They're looking for money, drugs. Anything that they can get their high on," the sister said.
Police said the cell phone calls are being traced and have a high possibility of landing a lead in the case. Police are also working on tracking the victim's stolen car, but said it will help once they get a description of the suspects from the victim.
The intruders put a beating on the man. His sister said he has bruising all over, one of his eyes is swollen shut, and he had emergency surgery on Thursday afternoon to fix a circulation problem in his hands from his arms being tied up.
"He's actually in shock. I mean, just looking at him, his demeanor. Just totally a state of shock," the sister said.

Police are still searching for three suspects who invaded a West Side home at gunpoint early Thursday, assaulting the owner and stealing a car and other items.
The victim was struck several times in the assault and is now being treated at the hospital, police said. His injuries are not serious.
The suspects are believed to be driving a stolen blue Mitsubishi Endeavor.
Police said the attack happened just after 1 a.m. at a home near DeVargas and 98th Street.
The victim was standing outside his home and was forced inside at gunpoint.
The victim was tied up with duct tape and electrical cord and his head was covered with a pillow case.
No electronics were taken, but the man’s phone, car and credit card were taken.
The victim had only a partial description of the suspects, except to say that that one is possibly Hispanic and that they may have been talking about going to Mexico.
