Report: American Is Forgetting It's History
Report: America Is Forgetting Its History
November 24, 2008 | From theTrumpet.com
As their nation’s status in the world becomes questionable, Americans are woefully ignorant of their own history and government, repeated studies have shown. The latest of these, a new Intercollegiate Studies Institute report, found that on a 33-question test on history and political and economic institutions, 71 percent failed.
Amazingly, college graduates scored an average of 57 percent—only 13 percent higher than non-college graduates. Darryl DeMarzio, an education professor at the University of Scranton, attributed this to the lack of history being taught, and the way it is taught, in higher education. CNSNews.com reports:
“One of the purposes of a history course now is not the acquisition of historical knowledge, but it’s a vague skill like ‘thinking historically,’ or something like that,â€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I'm still shocked at the score of elected officials.
The globalist's are probably in the Dept. of Education knowing full well this would be the result of multiculturalism, PC and constructivism. Tom Tancredo knows too. He has spoken of the negative effects of multiculturalism and it's effects on national pride.
Here's one article with Tancredo going head to head with The National Education Association.

OUR HERITAGE -- OUR HOPE BY TOM TANCREDO
Our Heritage Our Hope
(Note: This is NOT a 'hate crime', to cherish one's heritage.)
By Tom Tancredo
Background
In recent years, some in our public education system have turned their backs on the notion of instilling in our students a sense of pride and appreciation for American history and Western civilization. Instead, many classrooms have become places openly hostile to these ideals, with teachers and textbooks espousing venomous and anti-American rhetoric to de-emphasize the importance of our collective, historical accomplishments. This disturbing development has contributed to an academic community that is, in many cases, actively attempting to indoctrinate students with negative impressions of America, and a corrosive kind of moral relativism. This leaves American students without an adequate understanding of their past and inhibits their ability to gain a moral compass. In some of the worst examples, this phenomenon has transformed American classrooms and campuses into laboratories of counter-culture experimentation and indecency. As a taxpayer, parent, grandparent, and former public school teacher, I find this trend alarming.
In response, I plan to introduce a resolution that recognizes that teaching young people to have an appreciation of Western civilization is central to the development of a united and enduring American society. It also encourages local school boards and State departments of education to ensure that the concepts and ideals embodied by Western civilization are effectively taught in public schools. In addition, I am working with Members of my State House and State Senate to introduce, and press for passage of a similar resolution at the state level.
If you are disheartened by what is happening in our schools with respect to this issue, I hope you can help. Propose a resolution to your school board. Get your state representative to sponsor a resolution. We will only be able to turn back this tide if dedicated people like you help us.
In this website, you will find examples of how the ideals of Western civilization is being eroded in our public schools. You will also find sample resolutions that can be used for passage at a school board meeting or a state legislature.
Members of State Legislatures who have been asked to sponsor the resolution in their chamber
Alabama - State Senator Curt Lee
California - Assemblyman Ray Haynes
Colorado - State Senator John Andrews \ State Representative Ted Harvey
Georgia - State Senator Casey Cagle
Iowa - State Senator Neil Schuerer
Maryland - State Senator Alex Mooney
New Hampshire - State Representative Mark Brady
Pennsylvania - State Representative Sam Rohrer
Texas - State Representative Carl Isett
Virginia - Delegate Allen W. Dudley
Missouri, Indiana, and Florida are looking for cosponsors in their State Legislatures.

Our educational focus is becoming increasingly vocational ("school to work"), as opposed to the traditional view of it being an intrinsic good to have an educated population of citizens.

The easiest way to conquer a nation and it's people is to make them forget their history, and their greatness, and how it came to be.
I know, I took the test and scored way over what the average was for those who are supposed to be "educated" in our society.
But when looked at proportionally, it's probably the same percentage of the population who had an idea of what was going on at the time of the War for Independence. Which would explain why 2/3rds of the population didn't support the Colony's bid for independence. It is only a guess that I make, since there are no records of each person's education from the era, but we seem to have a similar proportion to the population now as they did then who seem to know what is going on, as to who doesn't.
This does not reflect though, the ammount of the population who did know, but did not step forward out of fear of retribution from what they viewed as a fearful master they had no influence over.
It is disheartening to know people like this. As I do some folks who are afraid of the powers that be, and when that happens, the elected officials become the master, and not the servant as their duties prescribe to be. That was one of the main points of a government foundation in liberty. That the people should not, nor should they ever have to live in fear of their government. And this can be attributed to "dumbing down" of the masses for those who would use their office for self promotion, and the consolidation of power to oppress the remaining people who don't buy into or subscribe to this form of despotism.
