Not really new to the site. I registered last June. I visit just about everyday. I just don't post anything.
Thanks for the welcome though!

Just again called Kyl, Sessions, Grassley and Lott (who has apparently made "no statements" on the issue). I told them they really need to know about the feelings of the grassroots on this because I believe if any amnesty passes, it will be the demise of the Republican Party.
The staffer in Grassley's office said: "Ma'am, he's only one vote."
I really don't think they care because all they're interested in is staying in office and having their cushy life--so if it looks good for them to have their "only one vote", they think they're off the hook. But this time, I sense it will be different..."Pressure makes diamonds." General George Patton, Jr.

UP for RE-ELECTION - many are in the category of Repubs who voted for amnesty last time.
We need to put PRESSURE on them!
Suggestion: Cut them off at the pass and refuse to let them continue using symantics re: AMNESTY as in, "So and so is against the kennedy Amnesty."
By letting them know that a TOUCH-BACK program {ellis islands}, GUEST WORKER, PATH to CITIZENSHIP, ANY WAY TO LEGALIZE & AMNESTY is absolutely unacceptable to over 80% of the American citizens!
They're consistantly attempting to use 'new lingo' to confuse the public and lay claim that they 'didn't lie.' We must stop them at every turn of the double talk. They thought that Americans didn't read or listen to them. We've shocked them and they are definitely scurrying around in the attempt to side-step us.

Here's my standard template letter I've been sending out lately.
Edit, copy/paste as you like....
Dear Senator <xxxx>,
I, like approximately 75%-80% of all US Citizens, do not agree with, nor approve of any policy which grants de facto 'amnesty' to persons that are in the US illegally. Poll after poll indicates, that a majority of US Citizens in every demographic - by gender, by race/ethnicity, by age, etc. - do not approve of granting 'amnesty' to illegal aliens.
To work toward such a goal is not only undemocratic, as I demonstrate above, but also:
* Is unmanageable. The CURRENT workload of the USCIS has significant backlogs, is subject to inaccuracies, abuse and corruption. How will things be if the workload were to increase by a factor of 5 or even 10?
* Lowers US workers living standard. Every industry that has a significant representation by illegal persons has shown an actual decrease in wage levels of native US workers.
* Is potentially dangerous. Significant concerns in terms of national security exist by relying on self-reporting of information relating to applications of those wishing to seek legal or regularized status. Thorough systematic background checks are necessary to ensure national safety.
* Rewards illicit behavior by officially 'tolerating' clearly illegal acts - not the least of which are often serious Federal crimes: Identity Theft, Improper Use of an Official Document (Social Security Fraud), frequently Tax Evasion - not to mention, illegal entry into the country.
Even IF you do not believe nor agree with any of the points above, please consider the following. Let us look back to a similar point in history when we were also faced with the question of illegal immigration and what to do about it... remember the 1986 legislation? The former Sen. Alan Simpson (WY-R) recently claimed that effort to be a dismal failure. It accomplished little in the way of enhancing security and slowing the flow of illegal persons into the country. Did it grant 'amnesty'? Yes. Did it do much else? No.
Let me conclude with this thought: it has been said the definition of insanity is doing a repeated behavior and expecting a different result at each iteration. Let me ask - are you seriously entertaining insanity as official policy to solve this problem? I sincerely hope that is not the case.
Best Regards,"If my family wasn’t safe, what makes you think yours will be?"
