KENTUCKY
US House 6
Albert B. 'Ben' Chandler III (D)
Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding immigration and border security. As your representative in Congress, I appreciate the benefit of your views on this important issue.
I strongly support efforts to stop illegal immigration, improve border security, and develop a border management system that enhances homeland security while facilitating legitimate travel and trade. Our immigration system has many weaknesses that require greater attention from federal, state, and local governments. We must continue to strengthen our immigration policies until we secure our borders and successfully account for all foreign visitors within our country.
In order to improve our immigration system, we must increase security at our borders and integrate new technologies to prevent known criminals and suspected terrorists from entering our country. Hundreds of miles of our border go unmonitored by either personnel or technology every day. The federal government still needs to hire an additional 2,000 inspectors and develop a new staffing strategy to deal with immigration control issues along both the northern and southern borders. We must also expedite the automated biometric procedures at the different points of entry into the country. These procedures will rely on fingerprints and digital imaging to verify when foreign individuals enter the United States. This will expedite the traveling process for legitimate passengers while enhancing security at our nation's airports and seaports.
In addition to removing dangerous loopholes in our immigration system, I am also opposed to granting blanket amnesty to all undocumented immigrants inside our borders. In January 2004, the President announced a new plan to relax immigration procedures by extending temporary residency to the 8 million illegal immigrants working in the United States. Under the Fair and Secure Immigration Plan, all undocumented workers who can prove employment status would receive a Social Security card and be eligible to obtain a driver's license. These individuals would then be free to travel to and from the United States for up to three years. I have concerns that this proposal could not only further weaken our immigration and border security system, but also jeopardize American jobs.
I appreciate the time you have taken to contact me about this issue. Learning all I can about the issues affecting Central Kentucky is an important aspect of my job as your Congressman. I hope you will stay in touch and contact my Lexington or Washington offices if I may be of any assistance on this or any other matter. I also encourage you to visit my website (http://chandler.house.gov) to sign up for my e-newsletter and learn more about the issues on which I am working.
Thank you again for your comments, and please feel free to contact me anytime I can be of assistance to you and your family.

I’ll be more than happy to answer your request when you clarify to me what is your meaning of illegal aliens.
1. Can illegal aliens also be refugees such as those that come into the United States from Cuba and enter this country without visa but upon their arrival into this great nation they receive the red carpet treatment that includes a work permit and a path to citizenship without earning it first.
2. Should all illegal aliens and their American born families be able to stay or leave according to all laws of the land retroactive to 1592.
Thank you for taking the time to write to me, with due respect, I would like to know about your real feelings regarding this issue.

These candidates have no contact information available (no phone #, e-mail, web site), and most refused to provide or have not yet provided a NPAT questionnaire:
NY House 7 Kevin Brawley (R)
NY House 10 Ernest Johnson (Conservative)
NY House 11 Mariana Blume (Conservative)
NY US House 11 Ollie M. McClean (Freedom)
NY House 12 Mr. Allan E. Romaguera (R)
NY House 15 Mr. Edward M. Daniels (R)
NY House 18 Richard A. Hoffman (R) (has web site but no way to contact)
Immigration (from web site)
Richard Hoffman believes that illegal immigration has led to an undue burden on the taxpayers and to an extremely dangerous lapse in our national security. Richard believes that we as a nation must take the necessary steps to secure our borders and to enforce our immigration laws. We need a plan that will find a practical balance between protecting the taxpayers, securing the homeland and humanely dealing with a population of workers who are here illegally. And we must focus on a long-term solution to regulate a documented and temporary worker program that will meet the labor needs of the business community. Richard believes that amnesty is the wrong approach and will only exasperate the problem.

We are working on our local politicians. There is a discussion on our local board about voting records and illegal immigration. We contacted one canidate's office and he never got back to answer our questions about this issue. Guess that's his answer.
Also, my local newspaper's comment page is evolving from disgruntled comments about illegal aliens taking jobs, etc... to it's time for action. I'm encouraged. I'm pushing people to act in my area all the time!
Today's paper:
Fight for us
We are being bombarded with campaign brochures from Mark Kirk. He claims that he is working for us yet he supports the illegals. You can't have it both ways. He is saying that it is OK to let them stay here and collect benefits off our hard-working backs. In my opinion, he is telling us that we are not important. We need strength in our politicians. Look at Carpentersville, or Gov. Sonny Perdue of Georgia who have the strength to require people to prove citizenship. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher of California is calling for tough immigration laws. This is what we need. They are fighting for us. They care about the American citizens. Our state and our hospitals are in financial trouble, our schools have to cut back on their programs -- all due to giving excessively to those who don't have citizenship. Look for politicians who will fight for us.
Near point of no return
Do you know that people are afraid to come to Waukegan? I have heard this over and over again. Just look at the city. It looks dirty. There are too many Dollar Stores. We have to go elsewhere to shop and to eat. Many of the store windows have writing all over them. This does not present a city that is trying to upgrade itself. It makes it look dirty. All I hear is Spanish being spoken. We have already lost one hospital. Crime is up. The park district and township are catering to those who don't speak English. Mayor, have you seen what Carpentersville has had the courage to do? Can you do this? You can't wait much longer, we are near the point of no return. Do it now.

Illegals should be sent home. If they want to be here they need to go through proper channels.
