Amnesty Backer Mike Huckabee Tried to Trick GOP Voters 8 Years Ago

Responding to news that Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum are attending Donald Trump's Iowa rally to raise funds for veterans, ALIPAC is reminding the nation that 8 years ago Mike Huckabee won Iowa using a bait and switch promise to remove illegal aliens from America that turned out to be a complete farce.

In 2008, Mike Huckabee quickly rose to the front of the GOP primary field by promising that under his Presidency, illegal immigrants would have to leave America. When he later expounded upon his plan, it was revealed that Huckabee's plan would only require illegals to leave America for "a few hours or days" and then return legally and permanently.

ALIPAC's President William Gheen went to Iowa and launched radio and phone message ads designed to warn GOP primary voters of Huckabee's deceptive tactic. The ads said, "Do you support or oppose Mike Huckabee's plan to allow illegal aliens to leave the US and return legally in one day?"

While Huckabee stayed at first place and won the Iowa caucuses by appearing to be strong against illegal immigration as Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have currently wooed voters in the same way, word quickly spread of his duplicity on the issue and after Iowa, GOP voters dropped their support for Mike Huckabee rapidly. By the time he got to South Carolina, his campaign had imploded due to the revelation his promises were a bait and switch.

"It took some time for GOP voters to understand and believe the news that Mike Huckabee's promise to make illegals leave America was a deceptive trick, but when they figured out the truth, they dropped him like a hot rotten potato," said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "And while Huckabee was rewarded with his own show at the pro amnesty Fox News network after the election, GOP voters have remembered his treachery and not allowed him to get out of the single digits in this election cycle. Mike Huckabee is trying to attend the Trump event to cast himself as a true conservative when the facts show he supports amnesty for illegal aliens, supported in-state tuition for illegals when he was governor of Arkansas, supported Rubio's amnesty bill S. 744, and supports deceptive tactics for GOP primary voters. I pray that Trump and Cruz are not following the bait and switch con job Mike Huckabee tried to pull 8 years ago."

ALIPAC's successful efforts to warn GOP voters about Mike Huckabee's plans to bring illegals back into America legally in a day received wide media coverage including on ABC national news in a segment covered by Jake Tapper. (click to view)

ALIPAC has added Mike Huckabee to the Cantor List targets and he has an "amnesty supporter" profile that has been read thousands of times! (click to view)

Mike Huckabee backed Marco Rubio and John McCain's Senate Amnesty bill S. 744 saying on his show, "It (S. 744) sounds like it is a very responsible, and even-handed approach that I hope Republicans and Democrats can come together on..."

Since Mike Huckabee is trying to cast himself as a real conservative once again, ALIPAC is issuing this national press release and the associated video to remind Americans that Mike Huckabee lived and died politically by the illegal immigration sword in 2008 and that rise and fall should be a warning to all other candidates.

GOP primary voters who currently believe Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are serious about their promises to deport illegal immigrants would consider any departure from those pledges to be a massive betrayal and con job similar to "The Huckster."

We don't know for sure that Trump isn't promoting the same thing. Maybe he's not, but his comments about an expedited return of the good illegals is certainly something that must be considered. He (Trump) needs to explain his plan in more detail.

Question, how come all ALIPAC alerts go directly to my spam folder? Just curious.

Just a point of fact. Ted Cruz has never promised to deport illegal aliens. All he is going to do is deport them if or when they are apprehended for other crimes. Donald Trump has promised a deportation force to remove them all in less than 2 years. Their stances are quite different on the issue of deportations.

That's just not so, Judy. Surprised you missed this. Cruz has said he will deport illegal immigrants and unlike Trump he will not allow them to return.

Because we have both supporters and enemies that sign up for our emails and hit the spam button and many of these companies are trying to stop us from reaching our supporters. Thanks for letting me know about this, please email me about it so i can try to improve things.

Thank you Judy, but I have heard what Cruz has recently said and he said he is going to enforce all the laws and that means deportation for all illegals. The difference between him and Trump is Trump is saying he will create a new deportation force to do this and Cruz is saying he will do it through attrition means similar to what ALIPAC's platform has been advocating for ten years.

I think Trump was trying not to be too strident with "they can come back in". I hope that he sees the seriousness of the situation and that he deports all of them. And then we change our mind and say no return. We need to assimilate what we have. Pat Buchanan, a Roman Catholic, advocated a 20 year moratorium on immigration so we can assimilate what we have.

Too many Christians are now converted into Cultural Marxists. The over-preaching of the gospel has really skewered common sense, reason, and other teachings in the Bible and the Natural Law. The problem Trump is going to have is with poorly educated Christians and Social Justice Christians, who are in a sense heretics. And then you have Mormons and Seventh Day Adventists who are Multiculturalists at their core and think the Gospel demands Multiculturalism.

Huckabee is one such character. Like many Christians, they think "Social Justice" is Christian teaching when in fact it is Marxist.
