Artist who painted Trump in the nude attacked

Ilma Gore, the artist who painted an unflattering nude portrait of Donald Trump earlier this year, says she was attacked by a supporter of the Republican presidential frontrunner.

Gore, 24, posted selfies on Instagram showing her with a swollen, purple eye following the attack Friday near La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles. She told BuzzFeed that some people in a Honda Civic drove past her shouting "Trump 2016!"

Gore said the car stopped ahead of her and a thin white man wearing shorts and a red beanie jumped out, approached her and then punched her in the face.

The artist filed a battery report with the Los Angeles Police Department, which had no immediate comment on the confrontation.

She also posted images of her wound on Instagram.

Gore's portrait of Trump "Make America Great Again," showing the candidate with a small penis, was widely shared on social media. A cropped version of the painting appears below.

The painting debuted in February, before Trump gave an unprecedented defense of his genitals' size at the March 3 Republican debate.

No one should hit someone for their art even if you don't like it.
