I got a new message from the Maryland Minuteman Civil Defense Corp.
They are looking for people to call in if anyone around here is good at that sort of thing.

Subject: [mdmcdc] URGENT - Call Annapolis on Monday & Tuesday!
Maryland House Bill 1236, the in-state tuition bill for illegal
immigrants, is scheduled for a hearing in the House Ways and Means
Committee this Tuesday, March 4 beginning at 1pm. It has 41 sponsors
and if it gets out of committee it has a strong possibilty of
passing.
So NOW is the time to speak up in opposition!! Politicians pay the
most attention to public opinion right before they have to vote.
Call or email members of the Ways and Means Committee as well as your
own representatives on Monday or early Tuesday morning to let them
know you are AGAINST taking seats away from legal citizens to give to
those here illegally. It is unfair to those who play by the rules.
It would also have a negative revenue impact from losing out-of-state
tuition. Furthermore it uses technicalities to go against the spirit
a 1996 Federal immigration law that prohibits illegal immigrants from
obtaining a post secondary education that US citizens cannot obtain.
The children of our state should receive priority over the citizens
of other countries at Maryland schools!
To find out the members of the House Ways and Means Committee and how
to contact them, go to the MD General Assembly website:

Man it sounds like they have problems!
Like the rest of us.

I received this email about how things when yesterday at the public meeting.
***************
[mdmcdc] March 11 Annapolis Trip ReCap - GREAT FUN, BIG IMPACT!
HUGE THANKS to the dozens of Maryland patriots who showed up at the
Judiciary Committee meeting yesterday to speak against sanctuary
cities and in favor of Pat McDonough's Citizens Right Act.
We really took "The Man" by surprise! Testimony went late into the
afternoon, there were so many of us. Emotions ran high! Pro-illegal
delegates were clearly stunned by the numbers and the passion of our
group. Delegates already on our side were encouraged by our
presence. As one of our speakers pointed out, the Maryland Delegate
Assembly is "out of touch" when it comes to public opinion on illegal
aliens.
Yesterday's turnout certainly helped change that!
If you did join us in Annapolis yesterday, you saw how easy and fun
it is to make a difference. You don't need to be an experienced
public speaker. The best testimony of the day came from average
citizens who simply spoke from their heart. Just showing up sends a
message that you're mad as hell and aren't going to take it any more!
Democracy is not a spectator sport! It's a CONTACT sport, and the
team that hits the hardest wins.
If you couldn't make it to Annapolis yesterday, or if you did testify
and had so much fun you want to do it again, your next opportunity is
Wednesday, March 19th.
Everyone needs to show up to support Delegate Ron George's House Bill
288 - requiring legal presence in the US to receive a MD driver's
license. Maryland is one of 5 states left that give drivers'
licenses to illegal aliens. (Washington, New Mexico, Maine and Hawaii
being the others)
HB 288 will be heard March 19 in the House Judiciary Committee
starting at 1pm. The bill has 58 co-sponsors, but
the chairman of the committee, Joe Vallario, is against it, so your
voice is desperately needed.
Many pro-illegal groups will be there. Will you?
Members of the Judiciary Committee, as well as how to contact them,
can be found on the General Assembly website:
www.mlis.state.md.us.
If you can come in person to testify, you need to sign up by
12:00pm. 35 copies of written testimony need to be delivered by
Noon, too. If you just want to come for support, Delegate George
will ask for those present in support to stand.
The MVA reports they are processing 1700 out-of-state driver's
license application PER WEEK (they actually receive up to 5000/wk but
can't process more than 2000/wk). This number has dramatically
risen in the past years as other states tighten up illegal immigrant
regulations.
If you cannot attend but would like to send written testimony,
deliver it at least 48 hours in advance to Debbie Yatsuk, Legislative
Assistant, Delegate Ron George, 152 House Office Bldg, Annapolis, MD

I would also like to see legislation which allow citizens to file a
complaint against an elected or public official based on the premise
that an official is violating the law if they yield to partisan politics or special interests and fail to represent the will of their constituents!
