Media blackout: Georgia man killed in black-on-white hate crime attack (Photos)

On July 1, Cobb County police arrested four gang members after they reportedly attacked a man walking along Mableton Parkway, eventually placing him into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The attack occurred on June 30, around 1 a.m., just as Chellew entered the parking lot of a Chevron gas station.

The victim, 36-year-old Joshua Heath Chellew, 36, of Mableton was beaten mercilessly by the assailants, and in an attempt to escape, he began backing up onto the road, according to a police report.

That's when his attackers knocked him to the pavement, where he was almost immediately run over.

Chellew was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Chellew turned himself into authorities. Police said that he does not face any criminal charges. Authorities said he did pull over and call 911 after he realized that he'd struck someone.

Those arrested are:
- Jekari Strozier. 19
- Antonio Pass, 18
- Johnathan Anthony, 18
- Kemonta Bonds, 18

All four have been charged with murder, aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act. They are currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Of course, while the mainstream press seems to be consumed with the possibility of racism as a motivating factor in the killing of Trayvon Martin, there has been no coverage of this crime by the national media.

In fact, one local paper, The Marietta Daily Journal only reported Chellew's death as a "hit-and-run," failing to even mention the mob attack that caused the fatal accident.
