Perry says state looking into border incursion

McALLEN, Texas — Gov. Rick Perry says state and federal authorities are trying to get answers regarding a Mexican military helicopter that crossed the Texas-Mexico border late Wednesday afternoon.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection had confirmed that a Mexican military helicopter crossed the border near Falcon Dam in Zapata County before returning to Mexico without landing.

Calls for comment to the Mexican Navy were not returned. The Mexican army and navy are both involved in anti-drug trafficking operations in Mexican border cities.

In a prepared statement Friday, Perry called for better communication between U.S. and Mexican authorities along the border.

Heck if the North American Union comes to pass the Mexican military will be all over the (former) USA. This must be trial runs for that eventuality.

And we here have to stop consuming the drugs, it's what's fueling the drug trafficking.
Now there's a debatable issue if I ever saw one!

The difference is Pakistan has give their approval of these entries in the guise of "killing terrorists." Seems to Mexico has plenty to do in their own country tracking down those who are corrupting Border Patrol agents. They could easily turn any information they have over to the US, who's helicopter they were probably using in the first place. Unless it was the drug cartels who now own the helicopter American taxpayers paid for.

I am not consuming any of their drugs. This kind of statement is like saying it's our fault that kids get raped by pedophiles. We shouldn't have kids so pedophiles can get them. I Mexico took care of their own problems and America protected our borders, there would be no problem.

U.S. shrugs off sighting of Mexican helicopter

BROWNSVILLE — U.S. officials Friday downplayed the sighting of a Mexican military helicopter hovering as long as 20 minutes over a residential area north of the Texas border this week, saying the incursion didn't cause alarm even though it hadn't been cleared in advance.

U.S. agencies could offer no reports of a follow-up investigation and no indication whether a Mexican explanation had been asked for or given. Gov. Rick Perry's office released a statement late Friday, however, saying the state was working with Customs and Border Protection to investigate.

U.S. officials familiar with the incident, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was not a joint training exercise.

“We made the proper notifications and the helicopter did cross back into Mexico and that was the extent of it, really,â€

The Mil Mi-17 (also known as the Mi-8M series in Russian service, NATO reporting name "Hip") is a Russian-designed helicopter currently in production at two factories in Kazan and Ulan-Ude. Mil Mi-8/17 is a medium twin-turbine transport helicopter that can also act as a gunship.
