Teen removed after tweeting from polling place

WESTMINSTER, CALIF. A teenage poll worker who was tweeting obscenities and taking photos of voters was removed from an Orange County polling place on election day.

The Los Angeles Times reports (http://lat.ms/1xbC1ga ) the girl complained on Twitter that many voters at the Westminster polling station didn't speak English. One of her tweets was followed by four emoticons of guns.

At one point she tweeted a photo of voters and threatened to throw a table.

Registrar Neal Kelley tells the Times that the worker, identified by election officials as a minor, was removed.

Kelley says workers are trained to know that that kind of behavior is unacceptable.

The newspaper says the tweets and the user's account have since been deleted.

A man answering the phone at her parents' residence declined to comment.

The requirement for citizenship is STILL the ability to speak and write English. It is illegal for a non citizen to vote. If they don't speak English it is highly suspect.

O.C. election officials call teenage volunteer's tweets 'completely inappropriate' and remove her

A teenage poll worker was removed from an Orange County polling place Tuesday after election officials learned she had been tweeting obscenities and taking photos of voters.

The poll worker, identified by election officials as a minor, was working at the Kensington Gardens polling station in Westminster, according to Orange County Voter Registrar Neal Kelley.

Her tweets included what appeared to be a photo of voters at the polling station with a caption that included a well-known expletive (deleted here): “PLEASE SHUT THE ... UP BEFORE I THROW THE TABLE.”

“It’s completely inappropriate and she’s being removed,” Kelley told The Times. “They’re trained very clearly that that kind of behavior is unacceptable.”

“The Vietnamese news station is here I’m gonna shoot myself,” she tweeted this morning. Later she wrote that “Every voter that came is Vietnamese with the last name Nguyen or lee &; they don’t speak English,” followed by four emoticons of guns.
“Wow I would’ve switched … out,” replied another Twitter user.

“I didn’t know it was all Vietnamese & non English speakers,” the teen responded.

Kelley confirmed that the girl is part of the student poll worker program, but would give no further information because she is under the age of 18. Kelley said students participating in the program must be at least 16 years old and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

The tweets and the user's account have since been deleted. Attempts to contact the poll worker were unsuccessful.

A man answering the phone at her parents' residence declined to comment.
