Dec 9 (Reuters) - President-elect Donald Trump said on Friday he would name Andrew Liveris, chairman and chief executive of Dow Chemical Co, to head the Manufacturing Council, a private sector group that advises the U.S. secretary of commerce.

Trump made the announcement during a rally in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he introduced Liveris, 62, a dual U.S.-Australian citizen who said he had accepted the appointment.

Liveris made a wonderful speech at Trump's Grand Rapids, MI thank you tour rally after Trump's announcement of his appointment. He will do a great job. It's so great to see these Captains of Industry excited about helping Trump rebuild our economy and put American Workers and America First.

Myself I am not a big fan of Dow. If he continues to be involved in Dow this would seriously worry me.

You know I hate to even be negative about anything that is being done right now, but I don't think we should just sit back and say whatever gets done, I'll accept it.

Dow chemical is not one of my favorite corporations, either.
