SAN BERNARDINO - Prosecutors filed murder charges on Tuesday against two teenagers reportedly beat an 87-year-old woman with a hammer in her Highland Avenue mobile home last month.

The District Attorney's Office filed the new charges in Superior Court four days after Storma Lane DelAndrae died at a nursing facility from injuries she received in the Feb. 11 attack.

Cesar Pulido and Mike Garcia Jr., both 16, who have been charged as adults, already faced five other felonies including robbery, burglary and elder abuse, according to court records.

A third defendant, Nelson Soto, 22, remains charged as an accessory.

Arraignment on the amended criminal complaint, with the murder charges, in San Bernardino Superior Court has not yet been scheduled, said Deputy District Attorney Tristan Svare.

Police say the defendants worked out details in advance to rob and beat the victim, describing DelAndrae as an "easy target" because she was old and unable to get around, according to Superior Court records.

"The evidence we have is they planned the robbery, they planned the attack," Svare said.

He said he could not comment on the details of the case.

Superior Court records indicate Garcia worked around DelAndrae's home for several months and told police he knew she had valuables.

On Feb. 11, Pulido and Garcia rode their bikes to DelAndrae's home, stashed them in the bushes and cased the home for a short time before
entering. Garcia checked the doors, and they were locked.
Pulido climbed through a bathroom window with the hammer and fell, creating a loud noise. He reportedly struck the victim in the head with a hammer trying to force her to reveal where she kept money, her car keys, the combination to her safe and the pin number for her bank and credit cards, Garcia told police.

Pulido told police both he and Garcia struck the victim, ransacked her house and removed property using one of her suitcases.

The pair left the home on foot and walked to a Highland Avenue gas station, where they purchased a drink and had the attendant call them a taxi, court reports state.

Detective William Flesher, who wrote the police report, declined to comment on the case. Flesher referred comments to police Lt. Scott Paterson, who did not return a phone call.

Pulido's lawyer, Tishna Asim, could not be reached for comment.

Authorities received 9-1-1 calls regarding DelAndrae about 3 p.m. the day after the attack. Officers arrived and found the interior of the home had been ransacked, with several drawers removed from a jewelry box on the dresser.

Contents of drawers had been dumped on the floor.

Pulido reportedly told his mother he had committed the burglary and "indicated it was his desire to live a gang or criminal lifestyle," according to court records.

He has associated with a street gang for five years, his mother told police.

Police don't believe Soto was present during the beating, but officers said they found evidence of the attack in his home.

Police tracked down Pulido at a relative's home in Phoenix. Phoenix police took the boy into custody and he was brought back to Southern California. Police later arrested Garcia and Soto.

DelAndrae died Friday evening at a long-term nursing facility from her injuries, San Bernardino County coroner's officials said.

Pulido, Garcia and Soto are scheduled to return to court on March 26 for a status hearing.

These anchor babies have spineless parents. How do you allow your child to associate with a street gang for five years??? They KNOW what they're kids are doing and could care less. RIP Storma.

Maybe her brother's lawyer warned her about it. There were guns all over with Mexican rap blasting. She had the gang sign up and had pics of her brother demanding to free him.

Make the punishment fit the crime---

Make the punishment fit the crime---
the young man should be [MOD EDIT]
Our senior citizens are at risk as well as our country as a whole. We, all, deserve the right to live in peace. Yes, we have American criminals, but it is a plain and simple fact--every crime committed by an illegal immigrant would not have happened if our government had enforced our immigration laws. Every crime committed by an illegal alien would not have happened if they were not here.

I would encourage all Americans to arm themselves for protection. I may get in trouble because of the "violent radicalization" law for saying that.
I will protect my family and I will not wait for the feeble efforts of our federal government, if anyone bothers my family.

I have advocated we pass a law that states that anytime an anchor baby is arrested for a violent felony, ICE would be required to do an investigation of said parents to determine if they are in this country legally. If they are found to be in this country illegally, they will be formally deported upon the conviction of their anchor babies.

These thugs have proven time and again they have no respect whatsoever for the lives of American Citizens. Perhaps their perspective will change if these gang banging anchor babies realize their violent actions could result in their illegal invader parents being deported.
