FL: Suspect wanted for Land O' Lakes murder

Suspect wanted for Land O' Lakes murder

    Gusto Arturo Moreno-Gonzales

    Diane Yeager-Lombard

Land O’ Lakes, Florida - Four days after 51-year-old Diane Yeager-Lombard was shot dead on her front porch, the victim's mother from Sebring and 19-year-old daughter are doing their best to hold it together for each other.

"She would want us to celebrate her life, instead of mourning her death," said Erica Yeager-Lombard, the murder victim’s daughter.

Pasco Sheriff's deputies have named a suspect in Yeager-Lombard's murder. They're looking for 45-year-old Gusto Arturo Moreno-Gonzales, an illegal alien from Mexico who's believed to be driving a blue or gray 2002 Toyota Tundra X-cab truck with an unknown license plate.

"Because he is from Mexico, he may be trying to go back to Mexico at this point, we don't know," said Kevin Doll, Pasco County Sheriff’s Spokesman.

The victim's mother and daughter have suspected Moreno-Gonzales all along. They say he worked for a subcontractor in Bradenton digging for a phone company nearby, and offered free dirt for Yeager-Lombard's driveway.

But they say he became angry when Yeager-Lombard refused to become involved romantically.

"She was really afraid of him. She said, 'What can I do to get rid of him?'" said Betty Ames, the murder victim’s mother.

"She was scared of him. I think she knew this was coming," said Erica Yeager-Lombard.

Just two days before she was murdered, Yeager-Lombard filed a harassment complaint about Moreno-Gonzales with the Pasco Sheriff's Office, but she did not want deputies to contact him.

"She didn't want to stir the pot I believe," said Kevin Doll.

The victim's family believes she was murdered by a man who wouldn't take no for an answer.

"There is no suspect. He did it. Case closed. They need to find him," said Erica Yeager-Lombard.

Investigators say Moreno-Gonzales' truck was seen speeding away from the murder scene. His last known address was in Auburndale.

If you have any information about Moreno-Gonzales, call Pasco sheriff's deputies at 1-800-854-2862.

Murder suspect's truck found near Mexican border

Land O’ Lakes, Florida - Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies say a murder suspect’s pickup truck has been found abandoned near the Mexican border.

Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Doll says detectives got word Tuesday that Gusto Arturo Moreno-Gonzales’ 2002 Toyota Tundra X-cab had been recovered in Alamo, Texas. That’s near Brownsville.

They’re working with authorities there to have the truck processed for evidence. But deputies have not been able to locate Moreno-Gonzales. They believe he may have crossed the border since he is a Mexican native.

A grand jury indicted Moreno-Gonzales in the murder of Diane Yeager-Lombard earlier this month at her home in Land O’Lakes.

The victim’s mother, Betty Ames, told 10 News Moreno-Gonzales met her daughter while digging in the area for new telephone company lines. Ames says Moreno-Gonzales became obsessed with Yeager-Lombard and would not take no for an answer.
