Obama, Hispanic Dems to huddle on immigration

Hispanic Democrats will have their first West Wing meeting with President Obama on Wednesday morning to discuss immigration reform, according to Democratic sources.

The meeting is the first face-to-face sit-down between Obama and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) since the president was sworn-in. Some in the CHC have recently expressed frustration that Obama has not talked more about immigration in his first two months in office.

Immigration reform is front-and-center on the group’s agenda.

CHC is eager to hear the president’s ideas and proposals for tackling immigration reform, not only as it relates to a comprehensive reform bill that could provide a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented workers but also as it relates to rolling back Bush administration policies of raiding workplaces and detaining and deporting thousands of illegal workers.

CHC members came away from a recent meeting in the Capitol with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano -- a day after her Senate confirmation hearing -- very encouraged that the workplace raids policy would be fully reviewed, and possibly altered.

Yet, CHC has expressed frustration that Obama has not yet gotten the message on how damaging the raids are to Hispanic communities across the country.

The group has made the raids and their human cost the new focus of its immigration reform push, although a comprehensive reform bill remains very much a priority for them, and one that they are encouraging Obama to push. Hispanic Democrats are continuing their nationwide tour of cities where raids have been conducted to drum up public support for curtailing the practice. During an event on the rout in San Francisco earlier this month, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called the raids “un-American" and spoke out on the need for comprehensive immigration reform.

I wonder if Obama is going to grant the American taxpayer an interview on this issue. Oh, I forgot. he doesn't represent American citizens. Silly me.

We NEED U.S. Senators who represent LEGAL U.S. CITIZENS at this POW-WOW also... email your senators and see if they can attend to represent the legal U.S. Citizens so this meeting is not so "one-sided"

Oh that won't happen then there would be transparency!! You know that thing the Obama administration promised and still has not done on one issue

Time to start bombarding him with emails and calls and make the point of his citizenry absolutely clear on this issue.

Why do we have a Congressional Hispanic Caucus ? Why do we have a caucus group that is based on and divided by race that supports constituents by race instead of district?
I suppose that it would only be fair to have a caucus based entirely on race for every race of people represented by Congress, but I think that might be considered "racist".

The CHC wants nothing less than illegal immigrants to be granted citizenship. VOTE THESE TRAITORS OUT!

Bill: S1155 A bill that would suspend licenses for businesses that knowingly employ illegal immigrants and makes e-verifiy mandatory for all business, will not go forward...This bill written and introduced by Senator Jorgenson took the first step in the process in the State Affairs Committee where it passed unanimously. However, Chairman of the State affairs Committee Sen. Curt McKenzie has thrown the bill in his desk drawer and stated this bill is not going anywhere....so much for due process.

We need to call, e-mail, and fax the following members and DEMAND they force Mc Kenzie to remove bill No. S 1155 from his desk drawer and continue forward with the democratic process so this can become law, finish the peoples business and stop stalling. It is what the citizens in Idaho expect of our legislatures...

COLORADO

Bill SB09-170 is still alive in the Senate - this is the bill that would give in-state tuition to illegal aliens who can not even legally work in our country. It is important for you to call and email the Senators listed below. Tell them to kill this anti-American bill. It is not fair to give tuition breaks to those illegally in the United States when citizens in Colorado can not even afford to send their own children to college.
