China’s national flag to fly outside White House
By Wen Xian in Washington DC and Zhang Wen in Beijing
The national flag of the People’s Republic of China will be raised for the first time on the south lawn of the White House on September 20.
Overseas Chinese planned the ceremony in the US to celebrate China’s National Day, which falls on October 1.
“The ceremony has gotten official approval,” Xiao Shuigen, secretary of the Union of Chinese American Professional Organizations, said Sunday.
According to He Xiaohui, chairman of the Coordination Council of Chinese-American Associations, the ceremony is hosted by overseas Chinese organizations.
To celebrate the 60th birthday of China, and to express their love for the motherland, overseas Chinese will raise the Chinese flag at 10 am that day.
Chen Ronghua, chairman of the US-Fujian Association, was the proponent of the event.
“It was always my dream to raise a Chinese flag in the center of Washington DC,” he told the Global Times. “This year, my motherland’s 60th birthday, is the perfect time for it.”
“The ceremony getting official approval is due to the good relations between China and the US,” Chen said.
As well as the flag-raising ceremony, there will also be performances, with nearly 1,000 people participating, Zhao Luqun, the director of the ceremony, said.
Have been googling away and I am coming up with no credible sources besides blogs. Even whitehouse.gov has nothing more than a release about the latest talks about the economic situation. Best thing we can do is call the White House, congressmen and senators. Who knows if the Chinese are just floating this story to see how much we care about our sovereignty or if we have been dumbed-down enough to not care.

Ten am this morning has come and gone and we still do not have solid verification this story is real.
We need ALIPAC volunteers to be ready to jump at challenges like this that could mean a great deal to our organization and our nation.
Has anyone run cross searches on Google to verify if the people quoted in this article and the organizations mentioned in this article actually exists?
I will check back in a bit and will do the research myself if not well in hand when I return.
Big miss not digging in on this early today folks.
Let's get it together PLEASE!

The national flag of the People's Republic of China (PRC) will be hoisted at the South Lawn of the White House in Washington on September 20, media reported Sunday.
Chinese associations in the United States had applied to hold a ceremony in front of the US President’s residence to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of PRC.
Chen Ronghua, chairman of Fujian Association of the United States, told reporters that their application was approved not only because of the sound Sino-US relations but also because China is a responsible country.
"Many Americans admire China due to the success of last year’s Beijing Olympics," said Chen.
More than 1,000 people will attend the ceremony and the performances held after it, according to Zhao Luqun, who will direct the performances.
Zhao said the performances will demonstrate the friendship, magnanimous spirit and kindness of modern Chinese people.

We have those articles and links to china already but the links are not working for me and we are seeking independent verification on this important issue.
I had hoped some ALIPACers would swing in and use their online skills and phones to track this story critically.
That is not happening here yet. Still waiting for that to happen folks.

I found one of the orginizations mentioned but no contact information. I used other search engins besides the big G and often get better results.
Alipacers, just pick the article apart for information and sorces. Look for the big and small picture then investigate.

Thinking outside of the box, I checked the IRS and they are a legit 501c 3
The Coordination Council of Chinese-American Associations (CCCAA) was stablished in May 2002 as a non-profit organization in Maryland. In 2003, it became a tax-exempt organization under Internal Revenue Service Code 501c (3). The primary purpose of the CCCAA is to unite Chinese-Americans of all walks of life and to assist them to become more successful in the American society.
All of these sites look alike. Kinda creepy but it could be planted info(fake).
Oh, and if you happen to be Chinese, please let W. know.

I was googling this morning and still come up with same reports being spread by websites. I will start checking the newspapers in this country whose readership is Chinese, and then will get on the phone to anyone I can think of. Will check in about an hour for progress report.
I don't like the silence in the Western world if there is really something behind it.
Can't find a mention of it at Associated Press, Agence Presse France, Deutsche Welle, Asia Times, Washington Post, Washington Times, New York Times, BBC, Sydney Morning Herald or Moscow Times or Al-Jazeera. This is really beginning to sound like a hoax.
Asia Times, Moscow Times and Al-Jazeera don't really like the US, so they would be the first to blast this about us crumbling to another world power. The rest of them would spread this as to the horror that that the South Lawn will now be claimed by China.
Time to start calling D.C.
Just called my congressman's office and asked if they had heard of any of this. They will be looking into it and give me a call back. The aide was not able to find anything on any website either. Also, emailed the White House press room telling them it was floating around the web and if it were true, it would be like China claiming the land. Undoubtedly that thought would be in the minds of many people as we have watched the Russians plant flags under the Arctic ice to claim the oil deposits.
The dailypaul website has nothing to do with Ron Paul.
Called my congressman's office and they could find nothing either. It has been quite a few days and have not heard back from them.
This sounds like a distraction to keep us in an uproar over the administration. There is too much verbal garbage being disseminated and planted, mostly by people heavy into special interests.
Can't find anything on the Chinese Embassy website:
http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/xw/ Of course, there are links to all the sources we have already listed.
Will keep searching. This is starting to make me crazier than I already am.

I just received an email from a member of Congress that asked around and was told this happened before and that Bush let the Chinese do this too.

I'm glad you have the connections that you have Why was there no outrage when Bush did it then? Why do we care all of a sudden? If this is true, then there should be hell to pay! This is AMERICA and we fly only one flag, unless you are at Six Flags Over Texas _________________ We see so many tribes overrun and undermined

Okay.......since I'm up, I did some research and ran down some information which will hopefully shed some light on this because it doesn't appear to be something which can be dismissed as incredible and churned out just to stir the pot, but, at the same time, also doesn't seem to be anything to get all in a dither over either.
The 60th anniversary of the PRC is on Oct. 1 and my research shows that there are events to commemorate the occasion.....including a film festival....scheduled for, literally, all over the world. These events begin taking place in mid September continuing right on through til Oct. 1.
That a ceremony is taking place at the White House, complete with a flag raising, is, apparently, not the big issue filled with sinister intent and hidden meaning that is being read into it though either.
This particular event is just one of many similar type events which regularly take place at the White House. In fact, I found one reported on the site of the Greek Embassy which took place on March 25, 2009 to commemorate Greek Independence:
As for the flag being flown on the White House grounds, I tracked down an article from 1918 published in the New York Times which explains that also.
This is something which began in 1918 with President Wilson..... to honor the French in the fall of Bastile........ who even commissioned a seperate flag pole for the White House grounds on which flags of foreign nations would be flown on occasions to commemorate special occassions. It will be from this specially designated pole that the Chinese flag will be flown commemoratively .....same as other foreign flags are flown during their special commemorative events.
A copy of the original 1918 article appears at the link:
TRICOLOR ON WHITE HOUSE.; President Wilson Orders Honor Paid to the Flag of France.

WASHINGTON, July 13.--President Wilson today issued an order that the French flag be flown from all public buildings and vessels tomorrow, July 14, in honor of the holiday commemorating the fall of the Bastile. [ END OF FIRST PARAGRAPH ]
Evidently China made application.....as everyone else seeking a special commemorative event at the WH must do as well.....and it was approved but we shouldn't jump to any conclusions over the approval either. For all we know, it might have been approved because that date just happened to be available.
That it hasn't shown up anywhere being touted as some big event of great importance or significance is no surprise because it really isn't.
Hopefully this will allay concerns and put this to rest now? _________________ If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace. T. Paine

azwreath,
Good info. Thanks! Dixie _________________ Englishmen, who have no right in this kingdom of France, the King of Heaven sends you word and warning...depart into your own country... Joan of Arc.
Thank you for finding this info, but let us weigh and decide the importance of this please.
How many instances of a foreign nation requesting space at the White House and raising their flag on the White House grounds can you find evidence of?
We need to know how rare or common this is. First I've ever heard of it, but need to know the history. Sounds like the French did it and perhaps the Greeks?

Thank you for finding this info, but let us weigh and decide the importance of this please.
And just who is this mysterious "us" who feels they can decide what is important or not for the majority? We all have the capability of making singular decisions. The fact that Azwreath didn't find anything alarming after heeding your call to research this "now" should be taken into account. Not everything is a hidden agenda against the American people. Sometimes, as in this case, we as a country have protocols for showing respect to other countries that have absolutely no subversive intent.
Running around like Chicken Little and hollering that the sky is falling over every little thing does nothing but make one look like an alarmist. If I could offer a piece of advice - pick your battles wisely. There are many more important issues that need to be tackled.

Listen up StephR!
The "US" I referred to in my post happens to be the Executive Officers, board of advisers, and top activists here at ALIPAC that consult on most major decisions of this national organization.
As for you and your two cents worth, I will advise you that you will have no influence here with your taunts and insults.
Let me offer a piece of advice. Don't pop on our website as a guest in OUR house and go calling the President of the organization "Chicken Little"
In fact, why don't you go ahead and log off now to save me the trouble of banning your account.
If you are this devoid of tact, we really don't need you working on our side. God forbid you approach a lawmaker with that mouth.
You go make all the "singular" decisions you want. This is a national organization that motivates and influences tens of thousands of people in the fight against illegal immigration and for the sovereignty of the United States.

This could be why you're having such a hard time recently rallying the "tens of thousands of troops" to activate - just an observation. Clarification, I didn't call you "Chicken Little" but did imply that your current attitude on certain stories is bordering on Chicken Little behavior. You might want to go find the children's story I'm referencing and read it again.
More observation. I've followed this site and the news found here for a long, long time because I'm concerned about illegal immigration. ALIPAC is a wonderful repository of information and a huge help in getting contact information for senators, etc. It's an important site for pointing out exactly which political leader is doing what in terms of harming instead of helping American citizens. It's like one stop shopping and I, for one am, have found it easy to navigate and easy to get the information I want. And for the most part it's easy to ignore the rhetoric of some of the more - obviously - prejudiced members.
That said, I've also seen a recent disturbing trend of behavior from you, Mr. Gheen and am speaking about it. Now you can go ahead and ban me, it's your right, but I have a right also to point out that you've been making me uncomfortable lately. Your chest-beating, look at how wonderful I am in my interviews and see how much POWER ALIPAC has (when it really doesn't) bravado is bordering on the same damn behavior that you proclaim to be so pissed off about when it comes to our nation's leaders. And the most recent raking members over the coals BS smacks of meglomania and seems to be offsetting and alienating more members than it is encouraging them to rally.
Here's something to really think about, as any good leader knows. There are times when a leader can lose sight of the common goal, (or gets too full of him/herself) and begin to cause more harm than good. Hopefully when that moment comes, the leader will have a good group of support around him/her, support who can point this behavior out. If the group is lucky, the leader will be smart enough to recognize that things might need to change when they no longer work and will get to work on finding out what could be the problem.
Quit wasting your time screaming at us members and maybe look at finding a new approach. Something that will get members motivated again. Work with us, don't dictate to us, because what you're doing right now isn't working. And if all those people you think are following the boards here really are, you're doing ALIPAC more harm by berating your members than anyone else possibly could.
It's too bad you don't want me working on your side, especially considering how closely I've worked with Senator Ensign's people, who have no trouble with my type of tact - you know, the one guy from NV who actually thinks that the nation's in a bit of trouble because of past and current administration laxness in regards to illegal immigration - and I think that I'll continue to work on the side that I believe in.
Like I said, ALIPAC is a great resource, but I can find the info without coming here.
