Judge frees El Paso teacher from Juárez prison

JUAREZ - El Paso private school teacher and Juarez resident Ana Isela Martinez is free.

The La Fe school teacher, who was being held on drug possession charges, was freed by a judge after a short hearing in which her defense lawyers talked about a drug smuggling ring that preyed on commuters who crossed the port of entry everyday. Martinez, who was arrested earlier this year, had said all along that she did not know how the drugs got into her vehicle.

She was arrested after Mexican soldiers found more than 100 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of her car.
