Alert! HR 3637 Would Promote Sustainability!


Representatives Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Vern Ehlers (R-MI) have introduced the Higher Education Sustainability Act of 2007, HR 3637. The bill provides funding for programs in American colleges and universities to develop, implement, and evaluate environmental sustainability programs. It also directs the Secretary of Education to convene a summit of academic experts to highlight and promote practicable and innovative approaches to environmental problems.

As Blumenauer noted on the House floor, population growth and urban development stress ecosystems around the globe. The legislation would authorize a $50 million grant program at the Department of Education that will annually support between 25 and 200 projects at higher education institutions.

This bill offers us the opportunity to remind Congress of the difficulties caused by continuing population growth.

This is all about population control, once again. Maybe they need to be reminded that we don't need 16% of another country's population here illegally. Our infrastructure is severely stressed under the weight of an invasion of illegals.

Hidden agendas in this bill would promote socialism and greatly increased tax burdens on energy. This coupled with the global warming scam intends to aim us toward a global tax as well as increased energy taxes, disguised as "enviromental fees". Electric bills could increase 140% if they manage to pass some of this garbage. They are also tossing around another dollar tax on gas as well as a 35 cent UN gas tax. Control of energy has to be kept away from the government or we are in for a world of hurt!
