Sens. Jim DeMint has introduced an amendment (SA 4177) to the Emergency Supplemental bill, H.R. 4899. This amendment would require the Obama Administration to finish the 700 mile-long border fence within 12 months. Currently, less than half of the fence has been completed and the Administration has stopped construction of the fence -- despite Congress having passed legislation requiring its completion. There are three other border enforcement amendments (SA 4214, SA 4202, and 422 that, if passed, would increase the number of troops and Border Patrol agents on the border and help the DEA stop drug smuggling at the border.
The Senate will vote on these amendments on Wednesday or Thursday, but it could be as early as Wednesday morning!
Please call your U.S. Senator(s) and urge him/her to support America's border security by supporting the DeMint amendment (SA 4177), the McCain amendment (SA 4124), the Cornyn amendment (SA 4202), and the Kyl amendment (SA 422 to the Emergency Supplemental bill.
