9-11FSA Families and Friends:

At the bottom of this newsletters are copies of emails sent by El Centro of Kansas City to Illegal aliens in Kansas and Missouri asking them to join in lobbying the state legislatures of Kansas and Missouri. El Centro receives money from various governmental agencies, federal, state and local.

El Centro, in collaboration with the Catholic Church, is going to provide free transportation, meals, propaganda materials, and training to the illegals. They are going to lobby for giving drivers licenses to illegals, welfare benefits, instate tuition rates for illegals and other benefits.

You can see how we are losing our nation to forces that undermine our national security by enabling and encouraging a large numbers of illegal aliens to influence a government.

I am forwarding this email to the Department of Homeland Security and perhaps ICE will be ready with their own buses and free food for the illegals’ trip back to wherever they came from. However, I’m not holding my breath for Homeland Security to do the right thing.

We at 9-11FSA do not have the funds to feed and transport our supporters to counter this event, but you must ask yourself where do these “poor people” find the funds for such an event?

Democracy is not a spectator sport. Illegal aliens are working to influence our legislators and we American citizens need to get into the game before it is too late

Because El Centro is supported by so much taxpayer funding (over $1,566,000.00 in 2003) we urge all citizens of Missouri and Kansas to call the numbers listed, ask to be part of the lobbying on January 23, and then lobby AGAINST the illegal alien agenda.

Those of you who wish to get a taxpayer-paid ride in the illegal alien parade to Topeka, Kansas and Jefferson City, Missouri in order to lobby against benefits for illegals should call the following for information:

A reminder—our buses still are NOT full for the trips to Jefferson City and Topeka on January 23, 2007. With the anti-immigrant attacks ratcheting up in both states (the MO special report on immigration reform labeled the native countries of arriving immigrants as ‘inferior cultures’ and Kansas plans legislation to require English proficiency from anyone receiving public benefits!), it is ever more important that we have a strong presence in our state capitols this session. Please make a commitment of your time—we’ll provide materials, transportation, training, and food, so all you need to do is come! Let’s make this a truly Happy New Year!

On Tuesday, January 23, 2007, El Centro, Inc. and the grassroots group Sons & Daughters of Immigrants are organizing joint legislative days in Topeka and Jefferson City to communicate directly with policymakers about legislation affecting immigrant families and communities. Armed with talking points on key issues and prepared with a breakfast briefing about relevant legislation, advocates will work in teams to meet with their own legislators, key committee leaders, and policy staff. This is a FREE trip to your state capitol and a great chance to learn firsthand how to influence legislation on issues of great importance to our community. No prior lobbying experience is required, and teams will be assigned based on area of expertise, familiarity with the legislative process, and English language ability so that all can participate effectively. This is an all-day commitment, but it is the kind of sacrifice that will pay great dividends in shaping the direction of our state legislatures in this critical year. Some of the issues in play include:

--English-only legislation (KS and MO)

--Restrictions on immigrant receipt of public benefits (KS and MO)

--Requirements that local/state officials enforce federal immigration law (MO)

--Attacks on instate tuition for immigrant students (KS)

--Prohibitions on public colleges and universities enrolling undocumented immigrant students (MO)

--Restrictions on drivers’ licenses and state identification cards, as states move to comply with the federal REAL ID Act

If you are concerned about these issues and want to make your voice heard in your state capitol, please join us on Tuesday, January 23, 2007. We will meet at 7:30AM at the Guadalupe Centers, Inc., 1015 Avenida Cesar E. Chavez, Kansas City, MO 64108 (parking on south Cesar E. Chavez & Belleview—try to carpool if possible) for a breakfast briefing and material distribution before dividing into our two state groups for the bus trip to our respective capitals. Missouri participants will return to Kansas City by 6PM and Kansas participants by 4:30PM. A simple lunch will also be provided. Dear Friends,



In a spirit of Solidarity, I am hoping some of you, or folks that you know, may be able to join me and others from the KC metro area at the upcoming pro-immigrant lobby day in Topeka next Wednesday, Jan. 23rd. Below, and attached, are all the details from Melinda Lewis at El Centro.



The lack of movement on real comprehensive immigration in our country makes events like this more important than ever. We CAN be a catalyst and voice to those who have the power to move legislation through the process. In our Holy Cross community and throughout the metro area, there are many stories of hardship that have manifested themselves due to this issue and the lack of justice for all involved. I have personally been drawn into several injustices experienced by friends and fellow parishioners at Holy Cross due to this issue, such as people not being paid for work performed, families separated and living in fear, and people risking their lives to come to our country in search of employment and a better life. I see the pain and concern daily in the face of Jose, who empties the trash in my office and keeps the Sprint offices sparkling clean. He and so many other immigrants take great pride in their work and feel so fortunate to be employed, but wonder daily what will happen next to take what little they have away. When my mother was hospitalized over the holidays, several women from Menorah’s kitchen and housekeeping staff, that speak little English and that I know well from weekly attendance at the 2pm mass, stopped by daily, many days twice, to sit and talk and pray with my mom and offer her any help they could to lift her spirits and make her feel better. I was so touched by this act of kindness and compassion and feel it was a precious gift from God!



The list of blessings and experiences me and my family have experienced over the years in community with our immigrant brothers and sisters is lengthy, and something that compels me to share it with those that I know care and want to help fight injustice. Please consider joining us on the 23rd to show our solidarity and concern for this issue. There are buses leaving from the Guadalupe Center in KCMO which you can signup for (see attached flyer for details). For those that prefer, I am planning to drive separately and we could carpool from Holy Cross. If you would be interested in this option, call me or email me as soon as possible.
