ALERT! Help Make E-Verify Mandatory by Supporting HR 19!

    Alert! Make E-Verify Mandatory!

For years, we have struggled to maintain the current, voluntary E-Verify program, seeking to attach it to other legislation as its expiration date loomed. Congress has now extended it for three years, and over 162,000 employers use the effective, web-based system that checks the databases of the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security to verify the eligibility of all newly hired employees, regardless of citizenship.

Now is the time to push to make the program mandatory. HR 19, by Representative Ken Calvert (R-CA), who authored the original legislation that created the Basic Pilot Program in 1996, would make E-Verify mandatory for all employers over seven years.
