Congressional Field Hearings:
Your Chance to Tell Them What the American People Really Want!

Last week FAIR alerted you to House Leadership's plan to hold field
hearings on immigration reform throughout the summer. House
Leadership hopes that by reaching out to the American people for
their input on the Senate and House immigration bills, the voters
will help them make critical choices on the issue of immigration
reform. House Leadership has just announced the schedule for the
first set of field hearings to be held this summer. Not to be
outdone, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee has announced
he will hold his own field hearing on immigration reform. It is
important to go to these meetings and show Congress that the American
people want secure borders and enforcement of immigration-not
amnesty- for millions of illegal aliens who have broken our laws.
We STRONGLY URGE you to take your family, neighbors and friends to
these hearings!
Please remember that those who support the Senate guest worker
amnesty bill will also be aware of the field hearings and will also
be present to make their voices heard, as we saw with the marches
earlier this spring. We know, however, that with strong turnout,
educated members, and passionate-but respectful-dialogue, we can
convince the Members of the House Congress that the American voters
want nothing more than to secure the borders, secure the interior and
enforce our laws.
While it often may be hard to see the effect of your work, you make a
huge impact with your activism. Your dedication, shown through your
calls, attendance at town hall meetings, and visits to Congressional
offices, has carried our cause forward. We hope that your presence at
these field hearings will persuade Congress beyond any doubt that the
majority of Americans want enforcement only and enforcement now!
Please take a moment to look at the schedule below and attend any of
the hearings you can. If you have questions, please contact our
field representatives Sandra Gunn (East Coast) or Rick Oltman (West
Coast). You may reach Sandra at 202-531-7521 and
Rick at 415-215-9550.
