SENATE TO ALLOW EXPANSION OF VISA WAIVER PROGRAM;
CALL YOUR SENATOR IMMEDIATELY TO OBJECT!!!
This morning, the Senate began floor debate on the 9/11 Recommendations bill (S.4), which seeks to implement the remaining recommendations from the 9/11 Commission. As we have told you in our updates, during the committee process Senator Voinovich added an amendment expanding the Visa Waiver Program to a potentially unlimited number of countries. The Visa Waiver Program allows the nationals of participating countries (currently 27) to enter the country without going through the visa screening process.

Expanding the Visa Waiver program to include even more countries only makes our borders more susceptible to would-be terrorists. It is exactly the OPPOSITE of what the 9/11 Commission recommended our government do to protect against threats of terrorism!

This morning the Senate adopted by voice vote an amendment offered by Senator Feinstein (D-CA) that somewhat limits the expansion of the Program. However the essential language expanding the program is still there! It must be stripped.

Call your Senators today and urge them to take all action necessary to stop the expansion of the Visa Waiver Program. Tell them that expanding the Visa Waiver Program is exactly the opposite of what we need to do to protect our borders and our national security!
Media outlets and staffers predict that the bill will be debated on the floor for at least a couple of days. There is still time to make a difference, but you must ACT NOW!
