BUSH PROTEST REPORT

The Bush Protest on May 8, 2006 was attended by about 12 protesters representing the following organizations:

Floridians for Immigration Enforcement
Floridians for Sustainable Population
Citizens Of Dade United
Minutemen Florida Corps

We were herded into the Protest Pen but were treated decently by Fort Lauderdale police who were professional and polite. Also in the Protest Pen were a large contingent of mainly anti-war protesters. We asked the police if we could transport the steel barricades to the Arizona border.

Media coverage was sparse but we were interviewed by Associated Press, NBC 6, and the Palm Beach (Com)Post but there was no known coverage about us.

Our contingent was honored with the presence of Enos Schera, President of Citizens of Dade United. Patriot Enos has more experience and war stories than the rest of us combined. Thanks for attending Enos.

The number of law enforcement officers was incredible. The President's caravan was headed by about 70 motorcyle police and other vehicles were in abundance. It was rumored that the streets from the airport to Las Olas Blvd were simultaneously closed. Certainly security is necessary but citizens should question whether the huge abundance is for security or pomp. And who pays the bill?

Thank you all for attending.

Here is a review of the Pulp Peddlers coverage:

Miami Herald - Florida's Best Foreign Newspaper

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/ne ... 532587.htm

"A few blocks away, about two dozen protesters held anti-Bush signs, while numerous law enforcement members made sure that only Shaw donors could drive up to the house."

The Herald's number of "two dozen" was way off as the number was closer to 60 and included 12 anti-illegal immigration protesters.

Sun(Down)-Sentinel

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/ ... -headlines

"The appearance drew about 60 protesters -- and at least half that number of police -- to Idlewyld/Merle Fogg Park at the western foot of the Las Olas Boulevard bridge, along his route to the fund-raiser. Behind a waist-high steel barrier and a row of previously planted Shaw campaign signs, the protesters chanted, "Resist, fight back, no war against Iraq!"

Their numbers included pregnant women, children, retirees and even a contingent of the Raging Grannies, a national protest group. They waved signs like "Bush Step Down" and "Impeach the War Criminal."

"We've got to be relentless in the pressure that we put on this administration until the war is over," said Ray Del Papa of Fort Lauderdale, a veteran protester. The crowd became galvanized when Bush's motorcade sped past. "Murderer! War criminal! Terrorist!" they shouted. About 20 minutes later, the crowd began to disperse. "No problem whatsoever," said police Sgt. Bill Schultz. "None of them have caused any problems."

The Sun-Sentinel reporter went out of his way to shun us and is reflected in the ommission that about 12 of the 60 protesters were from four Florida anti-illegal immigration organizations.
