I just received this email alert from Roger Hedgecock and his assistant Jimmy. It was very kind of them to thank ALIPAC and many others by name in their alert.

On his last full day in office President George W. Bush has commuted the
sentences of Nacho Ramos and Jose Compean.

The news spreads like wildfire across this great nation and we are grateful
beyond measure to the 43rd President of the United States of America.

We may bemoan that the President waited so long to right this wrong but we
celebrate the freedom, soon to come, of our brave and heroic Border Patrol
Agents. We are thankful for their equally heroic families who stood beside
their husbands and fathers. They too were imprisoned.

Monica Ramos lives in El Paso but seldom missed a trek to Phoenix to visit
with Nacho on Fridays. He is imprisoned in a solitary cell. Nacho's
father-in-law Joe Loya has devoted much of the past few years to the
campaign to free his daughters husband. He has been a father to Nacho's
children in his absence.

If you are getting this issue of the Gazette, you too likely played a role
in convincing President George W. Bush to commute the sentences. You likely
helped us support the families with financial assistance and unwavering
love.

Talk Radio America also deserves credit from Roger Hedgecock to Lars Larson,
Phil Valentine, Dan Rivers, Mark Williams, John & Ken, Dominick Brascia,
Melanie Morgan, Michael Smerconish, Dom Giordano, Terry Anderson, Helen
Glover, Martha Zoller, Steve Gill, Victoria Taft, Les Kinsolving, Dan
Gaffney, Lynn Wooley, Gary Sutton, Howie Carr, Ed Hendee and more. Local
radio kept the story of injustice alive, never relenting in the demand to
free two men who were imprisoned for doing their sworn duty in a border
combat zone.

We gathered several times in Washington, D.C. to make the case for justice
for Ramos and Compean and broadcast live at Hold Their Feet To The Fire
events. We were championed by a host of lawmakers from Duncan Hunter, Brian
Bilbray, Dana Rohrbacher, Tom Tancredo, Dan Burton (yea it's been that long
a fight), Sue Myrick, Virgil Goode, John Campbell, Steve King, and others.

Special plaudits due to a variety of organizations that worked tirelessly
for freedom…The Federation of American Immigration Reform (FAIR), a number
of Minutemen groups, 911 Families for a Secure America, Numbers USA, Light
Up The Border, AliPac, Grassfire.org, The National Border Patrol Union,
Friends of the Border Patrol and more.

And a special plaudit to Steve Sarviel who helped organize our Feet trips
and produced a special web site to help us gather as a community in support
of Ramos and Compean. And at risk of not mentioning a thousand other folks
let me thank Dennis and Diane Snyder of Escondido Charter High School. None
of our Hold Their Feet To The Fire trips would have been successful without
their labors and commitment to the nation they love.

As important (likely moreso) our deep endearing thanks to millions of
Americas who stood up in defense of Ramos and Compean with their letters,
emails, calls, faxes and letters to lawmakers, the President and to the
families. And your dollars helped keep the two families solvent as their
homes were threatened and financial collapse lurked.

On September 8th, 2007 Roger's radio audience and others from around the
Southwest (including the dreaded biker gang The Stragglers) traveled to
Phoenix to support the Nacho Ramos family. We brought checks valued at more
than 35-thousand dollars to save the Ramos home in El Paso.

I hope The Stragglers will be on hand in March when Nacho Ramos is reunited
with his family. We'll have to figure a way to do the same to welcome Jose
Compean home as well.

MEANWHILE…THIS IS SOMETHING YOU MUST DO AS SOON AS YOU HAVE READ THIS…YOU
MUST THANK PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH.. YOUR POLITICAL AFFILIATION DOES NOT
MATTER, YOUR OVERALL VIEW OF THIS ADMINISTRATION DOES NOT MATTER - WHAT
MATTERS IS THAT HE DID THE RIGHT THING. HE HEARD YOUR APPEALS AND AT THE 11
TH HOUR HE ACTED WITH COMPASSION.

AND YOU MUST ALSO BE PROUD OF YOUR EFFORTS. WE HAD NO HIGH POWERED FINANCIAL
LOBBY, NO BIG CONTRIBUTIONS TO POLITICS TO MAKE…WE HAD ONLY OUR VOICES AND
OUR PERSISTENT DETERMINATION TO RIGHT A TERRIBLE WRONG. WE LIVE IN A NATION
WHERE WE CAN BE THE DIFFERENCE PEACEFULLY AND WITHIN PROCESS.

GOD BLESS AMERICA
