Senate Judiciary Committee to Begin Work on Immigration Bill Tomorrow
With the Senate Judiciary Committee set to mark up immigration legislation authored by Chairman Arlen Specter on Thursday, the time to act is now in order to make your voice heard.
The New Guests and Illegal Aliens Converting to Guest Status Never Have to Go Home
The committee will begin by considering the Specter proposal that contains an unlimited guest worker amnesty program which invites the entire illegal alien population of 11-13 million to participate. Moreover, neither the illegal aliens nor new guest workers will be required to return to their countries of origin once the "guest" work period ends, because the legislation gives the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security the authority to waive any required departure.
In other words, this legislation is really a massive new legal immigration program that is both unlimited and coupled with wholesale amnesty. Here is a comparison of the Specter provisions with other leading House and Senate bills (PDF format)
Making matters worse, FAIR has carefully evaluated the Specter expansion of existing employment-based visas and conservatively estimates that Senator Specter's bill would increase the total annual numbers by at least 500,000.
If it can be said that President Bush's open borders policies and D.P World ports deal represent a dagger to the heart of homeland security, it must also be said that Chairman Specter's guest worker amnesty and increased employment-based immigration program represent a war against American workers.
Don't let Senator Specter's war on the American worker succeed. Call his office and tell him there is no excuse for selling out American workers. Also tell him that it's about time the cheap labor lobby took a back seat to homeland security and the security of the American middle class. After calling his office, call the other members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and give them the same message.
