Saw this story and thought it was well worth posting for more people to read. LA is so gone.

I have a very serious situation that may not be exclusive to my family.
I feel like everyone needs to know about what is going on.

My stepson started 11th grade yesterday at North Hollywood High. He is
required, as all juniors are, to take U.S. History. The first thing
the
teacher, Marcos Ortega, did was pull down a map of the United States
with
the southwest blacked out. He proceeds to say to the class, "This is
mine.
You took this from us. America is passing immigration laws to keep us
out
because you're scared of us and you should be. We're coming to take it
back." My stepson also told his father that Mr. Ortega said "I am not
an
American," and "We should rise up," and was waving his fist in the air.
Mr.
Ortega also told the class "Americans are afraid. They should be
afraid." He
also had the word "MEXICANTS" written on the blackboard and went on
about
how he's ashamed of his people that come here and work at McDonald's
and
other minimum wage jobs. He explained that he thinks they should be
fighting
to get what was taken from them, their land. It went on. My stepson
said
the class was silent and dumfounded.

When my husband picked up his son from school, he was outraged, of
course,
after being told this story. He called the school from his cell, and
was
told all the counselors were gone. (This is right after school.) He
finally got the principal, Robert Delling, on the phone and told him
that he
was outraged at what his son was being taught in school. My husband
was
emphatic and upset, but not yelling or abusive. The Mr. Delling
advised him
that he'd better lower his voice or he would hang up. Mr. Delling told
my
husband that Mr. Ortega has "academic freedom." My husband, obviously,
was
livid. The principal HUNG UP ON HIM. I repeat, HUNG UP ON HIM.

This morning, my husband went in to see the principal personally. My
husband stated his case, and his outrage. Obviously, he's not going to
start a scene, but was emphatic. The principal immediately told him
that he
needed to lower his voice or he would call the police and have him
arrested,
and specifically, "cuffed and taken away." Principal Delling told my
husband, "I have two witnesses who can back up my story" (that he was
yelling.) My husband said he would love to talk to these people, too.
The
Mr. Delling said he would "look into it" and "talk to the teacher."
Yeah,
not very convincing. My husband asked him what would be done if a white
teacher were teaching Aryan philosophy and white supremacy. Needless
to
say, the only thing that came out of this meeting is that my stepson
would
be placed in a different class.

On a side note, we repeatedly heard stories last year about my
stepson's
Asian-American biology teacher telling the students that Americans are
"stupid" and he was going to leave this country to go teach in China,
along
with an entire semester other anti-American statements.

I am completely outraged. Completely and totally outraged. This is
where
your tax dollars are going, my friends. This is the Los Angeles
Unified
School District. They can hire teachers to teach racist propaganda and
call
it "academic freedom."

I don't even want to go here, but I'm sure this will come up. Of
course, it
will be easy for anyone to call me a racist for feeling this way. This
is
where people go in a situation such as this. This is a cop out.
ANYONE who
knows me knows that I am absolutely no racist. I have no problem with
people of any race or color. None. I do have a serious problem with
what
is being taught to my stepson, and would have that same problem if it
were a
situation with someone who was white and teaching white supremacy. I
have a
problem with extremists spouting propaganda, whatever their race or
color.

What do we do? Mr. Delling, the principal, obviously will do nothing.
Do
you actually think that Roy Romer (LAUSD superintendent), when I call
and
write, will do anything? Will he even actually receive my messages and
mail?
The only way that I even have a chance to make a difference is by
spreading
the word to as many people as I know, and to the media.

If you are as outraged, or even concerned, as I am, I urge you to
forward
this email to everyone you know, or better yet, ask your kids what
they're
learning in school, talk to your principals, get involved with the PTA
and
familiarize yourself with your childrens' curriculum. We cannot stand
by
and allow ANY SORT OF PROPAGANDA, especially ANTI-AMERICAN PROPAGANDA,
to be
taught in our schools. It's one thing to encourage lively debate in
high
school classes about current events and political issues, it is another
thing altogether for an instructor to intimidate and/or indoctrinate
his/her
students to their way of thinking, and deny students the opportunity to
make
up their own minds!
