Subject: NJCIC ACTION ALERT: Write Senate Labor Committee in Support of Sweeney Legislation S1312

Dear Immigration Reform Supporters,

Senate Bill 1312 is currently under consideration in the Senate Labor Committee. This bill was introduced by NJ State Senator Sweeney on Feb. 26 and would sanction firms which hire illegal aliens. Passage of this bill by the NJ legislature would go a long way to solving our state’s illegal alien problem.

IT IS VITAL THAT NJCIC SUPPORTERS WRITE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE LABOR COMMITTEE EXPRESSING THEIR SUPPORT OF THIS LEGISLATION.

Here are the 5 members’ names and addresses:

TEXT OF MY LETTER TO MEMBERS OF THE SENATE LABOR COMMITTEE IS BELOW:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++

Dear Senator _________;

I am writing in support of S1312, a bill which was introduced by Sen. Stephen Sweeney on February 26 and which is currently under consideration in the Senate Labor Committee, of which you are a member.

S1312 would sanction firms which hire illegal aliens. A recent study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the oldest and most respected national anti-illegal immigration organization, indicated that the State of New Jersey spends $2.1 billion yearly on social services for illegal immigrants consisting of education, health care, and incarceration. In addition, the Inter-American Development Bank, a Latin American institution which monitors economic development in Latin American countries, has indicated that over $1 billion leaves the State of New Jersey tax free in the form of remittances sent to their home countries by individuals living and working illegally in our state.

Additionally, employment of illegal aliens drives down wages for workers who are American citizens and legal residents. This phenomenon has been well documented by George Borjas, an internationally respected economist who is on the faculty of Harvard University. As such, illegal immigration causes significant harm to those New Jersey legal residents who are in the lower socio-economic levels of our society.

For these reasons I urge consideration of S1312 in the Senate Labor Committee and eventual passage of it in the New Jersey Legislature.

Yours truly,
