NEW JERSEY CITIZENS FOR IMMIGRATION CONTROL

NJCIC has launched Project A189, a grassroots effort to pass legislation mandating use of the E-Verify system by all employers in New Jersey.

E-Verify is a data base of names, ages, and social security numbers which is maintained by the US federal government. It has an accuracy rate of 99.7%. E-Verify enables employers to make sure that the people that they hire are US citizens or legal residents of the United States.

A189 is a bill introduced by Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose in January, 2010 which would make E-Verify mandatory for New Jersey employers. The bill was sent to the Assembly Labor Committee under Chairman Joseph Egan where it has languished ever since.

We have to put pressure on Chairman Egan, and also on Speaker of the Assembly Sheila Oliver, to post A189 in committee so that it can begin the process of being passed into law.
