Not keeping their promise to end 'anchor baby' citizenship

A U.S. Representative From YOUR State Has Failed To Keep An Immigration Campaign Promise

HE/SHE STILL HASN'T SIGNED ON TO BILL TO END BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS -- ONE MONTH AFTER INTRODUCTION

The Members of Congress on the list below are our friends. They promised during their campaign for election last fall to support legislation to end the practice of giving U.S. citizenship when both parents are illegal aliens or tourists.

But they need a reminder that time is of the essence -- that their constituents expect them to fulfill their immigration promises as soon as there is a way to do so.

A month ago, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) introduced H.R. 140 that ends birthright citizenship for illegal aliens and tourists.

All that these Members need to do is talk to Rep. King on the floor of the House or phone his office and tell him to put their name on the bill.

ACTION: FAX If you live in the District of one of these Members, you will find a free fax on your Action Board at:

ACTION: PHONE Any of you may be interested in placing a polite phone call to remind staffers that their boss's integrity is on the line to follow through on this campaign promise.

My guess is that most of these Members have simply forgotten to get around to signing the bill. Or they may not have noticed tha the bill was introduced.

Your job is to make sure the staffers know the number (H.R. 140) and the original sponsor (Rep. Steve King), and they have no more excuses for not signing.

Tell them that you hope to receive notice by next Tuesday that their boss has signed.

A surge of co-sponsors is needed to help persuade House Leaders to allow a floor vote on the birthright citizenship bill.

THE GOOD GUYS -- SIGNED H.R. 140

These are the Representatives who already have signed onto King's anchor baby bill.

Those with an asterisk promised to do so while campaigning last fall. (By the way, my reference to "promise" or "pledge" is to the survey that we sent to every congressional candidate. To get credit for the pledge with NumbersUSA, a candidate had to send us a copy of the pledge signed by the candidate or the campaign manager.)
